What the heck is an Ekiden Relay?
An Ekiden relay is a long-distance team running event—and yes, it comes with a legendary accessory: the Tasuki sash. Runners pass it along to symbolize teamwork.
Ekiden Relay's can be any distance, but in our version, each team will collectively cover the distance of a marathon. Don’t panic! You’re sharing the load, so it goes by fast.
How it works
Each team has 6 runners:
-
2 people run 10K
-
3 people run 5K
-
1 person runs 7.2K
Start times
-
7:00 p.m. – Your two 10K runners start
-
7:05 p.m. – Your three 5K runners start
The handoff magic
The first 5K runner on your team to finish will tag your 7.2K runner, who will wear the Tasuki sash (because this runner is most likely your grand finale finisher)!
We’ll provide the sash, plus a decorating station so you can personalize it and make it fabulously team-branded.

The Tour de Thorncliffe is back for 2026 with ambitious targets and exciting prizes.
A collaboration between the Thorncliffe Park Autism Support Network (TPASN) and the Women’s Cycling Network, with support from organizational partners The Neighbourhood Office, Gateway Bike Hub and Cycle Toronto, this annual event raises money to provide free summer camps for children with special needs.
Inclusive Summer Camps That Make a Difference
Our camps have been a tremendous success, bringing together children with and without neuro-developmental disorders in an environment that fosters awareness, understanding, and acceptance. “While there were free camps in the city, none were open to children with special needs,” says TPASN’s Dr. Shakhlo Sharipova—which is why our inclusive model is so vital.
Each year, demand for these camps grows, and the need for support from families in our community continues to rise. We’re calling on the community and local businesses to help us raise $20,000 to fund camps in Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park. Every contribution, big or small, helps create life-changing experiences for children.
With your support, we can:
✔ Provide a free, enriching camp experience for 70 children, helping them build social skills, enjoy the benefits of outdoor play, and develop healthy habits.
✔ Hire qualified educators and one-on-one assistants to support children with high sensory and behavioural needs.
✔ Cover materials, nutritious meals (breakfast, lunch & snacks), and specialized entertainers who create an engaging, inclusive environment for kids with autism and other neuro-developmental differences.
Together, we can ensure every child has the chance to learn, grow, and thrive—regardless of ability.

Celebrating 6 Years of Scarborough’s Very Own
More than a race, this is a celebration of community, culture and movement.
Proudly presented by Black Runners of the GTA (BRGTA) and the Canada Running Series Foundation (CRS Foundation), the Scarborough 5K brings people together to run, walk, connect, and celebrate local pride at beautiful Morningside Park.
Built on accessibility, representation, and inclusivity, this event welcomes everyone. From first-time participants to experienced runners, creating a space where community comes first and everyone belongs.
Run With Purpose
Your participation supports the Boys & Girls Club of East Scarborough (BGC East Scarborough), helping provide meaningful opportunities for youth and families in the community.
The Scarborough 5K exists to uplift Scarborough, inspire new runners, and showcase the powerful connection between movement, health, and community spirit.
