FAQs
-
Does it have to be at the JCC? Yes because they've stuck with us for years when all others said, "No". Similar to the ROC Tri, the Indoor Season has to be planned and coordinated months in advance. Several alternative facilities were contacted but none of the could accommodate or be able to offer a consistent weekly time slot, except for the JCC.
-
Where does my money go? Unlike the outdoor workouts, we have to rent the facility for the Indoor Season and the JCC has been gracious enough to allow us unprecedented access of their building for the past 4 years. We also compensate our coaches, lifeguards, and coordinators appropriately for their time.
-
Do I have to join JCC? No, but if you purchase a season pass you will need to get a key fob to access their facility during our contracted time.
-
What if I miss the registration window? For the past 3 years the season passes have sold out in less than 48 hours.
-
Can I break up the cost? Yes. We are welcoming club and do not want finances to hinder anyone's access to this workout. Please connect with the Indoor Season coordinators to inquire in 100% confidence (email us at [email protected])
-
Can I register if my RATs members expired? Bring a guest? NO! As part of our contractual obligation to the JCC, RATs is liable for all participants and only active members are fully covered for accidents under our insurance policy. Having a non-covered participant puts the entire contract in jeopardy.
- Please check your membership status to ensure it is active for the entire season or you could forfeit your spot (which can be viewed in your RunSignUp profile page...click on your face in the top corner). Click here to check your membership status!
Thank you for your time and looking forward to another indoor season!

The 2026 5Kish in Person Version will include

-

Amenities
• Four Season Challenge Finisher’s Medal for each event
• Four Season Challenge Unisex Lightweight Water Resistant Jacket
• Special Four Season Challenge designation on your In Person bib for Flower City, Shoreline & Rochester Events, so we can give you your medal post race at the race site
• That incredible feeling you committed yourself to a year long seasonal fitness journey
Processing fees do apply
How this Works (aka the RULES)
-
You can sign up for Four Season Challenge Separately by clicking register button above.
-
You must complete all 4 events in the Challenge that you register for to be eligible for medals. For example, you must complete all four In Person half marathons if you sign up for the In Person half marathon challenge
-
You must sign up for each of the other races in the challenge at your leisure. This way you can budget your entry fees to the other events. But you must be signed up for 4sc by January 2nd so we know how many medals to get. There is not deviation to this date.
-
Those entered in the Winter Warrior Relay ARE NOT eligible for Four Season Challenge Series nor finisher medals.
-
In other words, by signing up for the Four Season Challenge enters you into the Challenge NOT the respective races in the challenge. You need to do that on your own when registrations open and your budget allows.
-
Please register under the same name for each race. Otherwise we will not know to designate you as 4SC for the events.
-
The 4SC offer ends January 2nd at 5:45PM. Due to this, so we can get all the medals & shirts ordered, they will not be available at Winter Warrior. BUT we will ship the Winter Warrior one to you when they arrive to the address used to register for Four Season Challenge. This is the only one we will ship. All others will be picked up at the awards table after the other 3 In Person events.
-
The other three medals will be available at the awards table after In Person Flower City, Shoreline and Rochester. We will not mail these medals for the In Person
-
The Four Season Challenge is a completely manual process, please exercise patience and read all the emails so you are most informed
-
We repeat, you must register for each individual race separately but for 4sc and WW by Jan 2.
-
No Refunds/Transfers nor Deferrals

The ROC Indoor Triathlon will be held on Saturday March 28th at the beautiful Louis Wolk Jewish Community Center (aka...the JCC) with the first heat starting at 1PM. A post-race party and awards ceremony will be held on the JCC premises starting at 5pm.
In sequential triathlon order (swim/bike/run), it will be a timed event with Average Ranking in each of the 3 disciplines to decide the awards.
-
Swim - 15mins: A 5-lane lap pool where 2 athletes will split one lane and swim as many laps as possible. To keep it simple, only completed laps will be counted into the athletes swim distance. (15mins)
-
Bike - 15mins: Using a stationary bike, athletes will spin as hard as they can to rack up distance. Athletes can adjust the knobs to increase the amount of wattage to impact distance. Bikes will be calibrated as best as possible for a fair competition.
-
Run* - 15mins: Using a treadmill, athletes will run as fast as they safely can. Treadmills will be calibrated as best as possible for a fair competition.
Heats will consist of 10 athletes with a new heat starting exactly 20 apart (15 + 5 min transition = 20 minute).
Tie-Breaker: In the unlikely event of a tie in total distance, total KW on the stationary bike will be used to determine the winners.
Transition time is 5 minutes between each event and will be discounted from your total time. However, each event will start exactly 5 minutes after the previous one ended (meaning you would have less time on the next event).
Total race time: 45 minutes
Volunteers will be on hand to monitor and record lap swims, spin bikes, and treadmill runs then report those results to the race officials. Athletes may also be needed as volunteers to count for their fellow competitors in waves before or after completion of their own event.
Post-Race party and awards will follow the race at the JCC as well.
-
Overall Top 3 (Male / Female)
-
Spirit of the Race
-
Age Group (1 Winner)
-
Most-Improved awards from the Indoor Season
-
Best Swim ("the Dolphin")
-
Best Bike ("the Cranker")
-
Best Run ("the Cheetah")
-
Slowest Transition Time ("The Camper)
-
Dead Middle ("the DFM")
-
Tie-Breaker: Total KW on the stationary bike will be used to determine the winners.
Competitive Understanding: We will do our absolute best to calculate the distances based upon the information recorded and submitted by volunteers, which might differ from the athletes watch. Good sportsmanship is expected at all times.

RHSC's Super Hear-O 5K & Family Fun Run
For the past two years, over 200 families gathered on a beautiful Sunday morning in June, many wearing superhero costumes, and ran, walked, rolled and strolled for a really great cause. They came out for Rochester Hearing & Speech Center’s annual Super Hear-O 5K, an event to celebrate the superheroes making a difference in the lives of individuals with hearing health needs and children with developmental disabilities served through our nonprofit mission of “Communication for Life.”
At RHSC, we provide both hearing health testing and treatment for individuals of all ages, but we also provide Early Intervention and Preschool Developmental Services to our youngest and most vulnerable children, many of whom are currently on the waitlist for Early Intervention services in Monroe County. Our team of audiologists, special education teachers, speech-language pathologists and occupational and physical therapists are superheroes who change the lives of so many every single day.
Now in it's third year, RHSC's Super Hear-O 5K & Family Fun Run will take place on Sunday, June 7th, from 9-11am in Seneca Park. This inclusive and family friendly event is geared toward all ages and abilities and features a 5K Walk/Run and a one-mile paved walk/roll or stroll option. Please join us on Saturday June 21, 2025 for the Irondequoit Juneteenth 5K Run/Walk!
Juneteenth is a nationally recognized holiday and a celebration that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States, on June 19, 1865. General Gordon Granger led 2,000 Union soldiers to Galveston, Texas to ensure the freedom of 250,000-still enslaved. Rochester, NY, home to Frederick Douglass, is the perfect place to host a Juneteenth Run/Walk!
This race is hosted by Irondequoit E.R.A.S.E. (Eliminating Racism And Seeking Equity). Registration fees will go towards our annual scholarships for college-bound Black and Brown students from Irondequoit and Eastridge High Schools.
Finish your day celebrating freedom by joining us at our 6th annual Juneteenth festival at 12 noon at the Irondequoit Town Hall yard.
Online registration will remain open right up until the start of the race or until sold out. Obatron Productions' exercise arm, Obatron Fitness, is proud to offer the fourth year of our race series, West of the River Series! Enter the whole series or choose individual races. Walker and mobility-impaired friendly. Diet sensitive. Training available.
Keep scrolling for an overview of options and more information! If you're on a phone, that might take a bit. When you're ready to register, click the grouping for what you want: Individual Races or the Series (series registration ends when June Jaunt registration ends). Otherwise, click the "Race Info" tab to see all options at once.
2026 Updates and Information
-
We have youth pricing for those aged 19 and under.
-
Barbecue Bash Quarters Marathon Distance has replaced June Jaunt as a Rochester Runner of the Year race.
-
Barbecue Bash Quarters is certified! This means those who are looking for an autumn race to attempt a Boston Marathon qualifying time can use their 2026 time for their 2028 BM application.
-
Anyone who is an Obatron Racing Team prior to registration and on race day gets a discount off each individual race, the series, or the races (individually or as a series) with training.
-
Each race will have very modest awards, which must be claimed BEFORE leaving. None will be held. They will be ready no earlier than 45 minutes after the start of each race and will be later for longer races. Watch event messages for details closer to each race. See "Awards" below for more information.
-
Training available at https://runsignup.com/Race/NY/Rochester/WestOfTheRiverTraining. (Registration will open by March 10.)
Special Component of Barbecue Bash Quarters
You can choose to run 1, 2, 3, or all 4 quarters of a marathon (6.55 to 26.2 miles) for Barbecue Bash Quarters (BBQ), formerly Barbecue Bash Half. What's more is that you can adjust down during the race if you need to, so if you started out with the idea of getting a marathon done and it's just not in the cards that day, you will not DNF your race; instead, you'll be bumped down to the last quarter you did finish. On the flipside, you can't decide to upgrade while on the course; that has to be done by the end of packet pick-up on race day so you can pay the appropriate difference in cost and so that Hourglass Works can re-map your timing chip attached to your bib. Accompanying friends for an entire lap after you've finished your race is discouraged for various reasons, including difficulty in accurately conveying to authorities and volunteers how many racers are left. There are no early starts. If you need a race with even more generous cutoffs than ours, we have some suggestions.

Race Gift Giveaways: Again, this year we are giving away shirts with entries. The sizing cutoffs are listed above. If you miss the shirt cutoff, if time and supplies allow, you may be given a substitute race gift. Due to the high cost of shirt production, we do not order extras at this time. If you check in on-site after the race is over, we may have shirts from people who don't show up.
Series Information
Registration for or upgrading to the whole series should be done before June Jaunt occurs. If you do all three races, but do not register for the series, we cannot guarantee you will get the gift due to administrative logistics of tracking participants.
When you register for the series, there's only one spot for choosing a giveaway cut/size, so that will be applicable only to the first race, June Jaunt. You will see questions for your cut/size preference for the other two races in a separate question section along with other registration questions to help us shape the race. When it's closer to the race time, the RD will transfer you to each individual race. If you miss the giveaway cutoff, you are not guaranteed a shirt for June Jaunt. If time and supplies allow, those who miss the shirt may be given a substitute race gift.
What You Get
-
pacers and/or lead bikes for select races and paces as available, including a final finisher escort (on foot or bike) for whoever is the last person on the course
-
medal on race day

-
food-themed kits appropriate to each race

-
chance to make a donation to our Charity Partners for any of three food-related charities on the west side of Monroe County

-
generous cutoff times (June Jaunt: 1 hr., 15 min., The Potato Run: 2 hr., 15 min., Barbecue Bash Quarters: 7 hrs., 30 minutes)
Other
You might have surmised there is an emphasis on food! I grew up hungry until I could earn money myself to buy food, and while my company, Obatron Fitness, isn't a non-profit, each race will include three charitable components: 1) fundraising drive via registration for each host town's food program for those in need; 2) a food drive for the same organization on race day; and 3) a portion of proceeds after expenses are covered will be donated to the organization.
Discount Offers & Referrals
Entering the series rather than individual races gets you pricing equal to or less than the total of the individual race fees (depending upon when you register), a lower RunSignUp fee than the sum of the fees when registering separately, and a series gift. The training offered through the series registration page is at a much-reduced price from when we train folks for races other than our own. If you are a member of GRTC or Obatron Race Team, you get a discount at checkout for that. Additionally, you may earn back some of your registration by having other racers use your personal referral link, generated after you register. See the "Referrals" section for more information.
Race Awards & Raffle Prizes
We provide modest awards for the first-place finishers in each gender designation for overall placements and in age groups (AG). Our age group awards are meant to be fun tokens of acknowledgement and in the spirit of the races. We've had keychains, seasonings, and phone holders, among other prizes, in the past. Winners of Race Prizes or Raffles must be present or have someone as their proxy to claim their awards at the race day presentation or they are forfeited, likely being raffled off to volunteers at the end. There will be a modest prize for the series winner sent December or later, after the whole series concludes, if there are at least ten series participants.
Additional Details
We will post additional details as they occur. Any changes will be updated here, on the Obatron Fitness Facebook page, in our Facebook group, and communicated through RunSignUp messaging. Please note, as the pandemic has proven, life is unpredictable! It is possible that changes in time and location could occur for reasons beyond our control. Keep an eye on your email for race communications to ensure you know all you need to know about the race(s).

Rochester Road Runners launched in the summer of 2014 as a free, pressure-free alternative to costly running store groups and rigid local clubs. Founded by Bill, a runner who believed Rochester deserved better, the crew now brings together around 30 members, from marathon regulars to total beginners. Built on the belief that running should be accessible to everyone, driven by camaraderie, and fun first, Rochester Road Runners welcomes all paces and experience levels. Three runs a week, all free, all rooted in Rochester: Wednesday evenings at Tryon City Tavern, Saturday mornings with a long run option, and Thursday training workouts. No fees, no expectations, no pressure, just genuine community.
