Join us for our annual Independence Day celebration - the ASICS Independence Day 4-Miler presented by Independent Brewing Company! Come out in your red, white & blue, run the Ma & Pa Trail, and end at Independent Brewing Company where the first beer is included with race registration for those 21+.
We are so excited for your child to participate in NICA Discovery!
All NICA Discovery adult leaders are background checked and hold a coaching license from NICA. There will always be at least 2 leaders who have current first aid training.
New Friends is the introductory level and is aimed at children who are new to biking but have some limited experience with neighborhood or urban riding. These are children who can already balance and pedal a bike, but may have never ventured “off road.” Games and activities work on learning to better ride and operate a bike preparation for later buildable skills, and increasing stamina.
Participants must be able to ride a bike without training wheels before joining a program and must be in 7-11 years old by program start date.
NICA Discovery Fallston, MD meets at Edgeley Park on Mondays at 5:30 pm

What to Expect
Each lesson is broken down into 3 parts;
Opener activities and objective/expectation setting
Skills activities and Games
Wrap up and Reflection
There will be a break mid-lesson for snacking/hydrating and general check in.
Each session builds on skills learned in the previous lesson. To get the MOST out of NICA Discovery make sure your child can attend every lesson!
For New Friends, the lessons consist of riding and playing in a park-like setting and are not trail dependent. Students will ride within that open space, staying close to restroom facilities and support.
Kids should come ready to learn, play, ride and explore!
Backpack examples
A small pack that fits snugly and is just big enough to carry a water bottle and snacks, and maybe a small found treasure or two is great.
