Join us for this new 5k to honor the memory of Ed Espenshade. Ed was an influential member of the South Jersey racing scene for many years.

Overall and Age Group awards
While growing up in Mount Holly, New Jersey, Ed Espenshade played catch with his dad, attended Phillies and Sixers games, and dreamed of being an athlete. But soon after he acquired a paper route as a twelfth birthday present, Ed was hit by a car while attempting to cross a road. After blood was drawn during an examination in the emergency room, Ed received shocking news: he had diabetes.
As his path took an unexpected turn, Ed describes how he became more determined than ever to pursue his athletic goals. After an unsuccessful attempt at soccer, Ed eventually found his home as a cross country runner in high school and college. It seemed that Ed was defying all odds as he continued to run hundreds of road races that included four marathons. But everything changed in 2003 when Ed found himself face down on the street during a training run and soon received another stunning diagnosis: he had a rare nonmalignant brain tumor. As he details his continuing journey with two serious health conditions, Ed shines a light on the importance of keeping hope, faith, and perseverance alive in the face of lifes greatest challenges.

A New Name for Bucks County's Original Gravel Ride Bucks Gravel (formerly the Fools Classic) is Kermesse Sport’s (& Bucks County’s) original Mixed Surface Ride, and is one of the oldest spring classic themed/gravel rides in the US. How does it differ? * Different Name * Different Season * Different Start/Finish Venue * Most of the Same Great Roads! Despite being founded long prior to the Revolutionary War, Bucks County doesn’t have much in terms of cobblestone roads, but due to its rural nature, there are many unpaved roads of dirt and gravel. Glaciers carved out what is now the Delaware River, yielding some steep hills leading out of the river valley. While the route has varied, the concept is constant; ride a circuit of roads less traveled past picturesque farms, pre-revolutionary stone houses, and take in as many of the local unsealed roads as practical. The course is always very challenging and has quite a few technical sections. The unpaved sections are all public roads or trails. They
are suited for road bikes with road tires, though the organizers recommend that you leave the lightweight stuff at home, and highly suggest that tires 28mm or wider will make your ride more enjoyable. * The ride is fully supported: + Aid Stations: 3 on the Long Route, 2 on the Medium, 1 on the Short & 1 on the family ride + SAG Support * The course is not marked (but we will provide GPS Files and complimentary access to the RideWithGPS App on ride day) * Post Ride Food & Drink with Beer courtesy of 18th Ward Brewing * The provisional routes are (according to Ride With GPS) + The Long Course is 81 miles long with 6900' of climbing and has >23 miles of unpaved roads (29%) + The Medium Course is 57 miles long with 5000' of climbing and has 20 miles of unpaved roads (35%) + The Short Course is 34 miles long with 3000' of climbing and 12.5 miles of unpaved roads (37%) + The Family Ride is up to 21 miles long and is mostly flat on an unpaved towpath Cyclocross/Gravel bikes are welcome, but
certainly not required, as most of the ride is on paved roads. Time Trial & Triathlon bikes are not suitable for this course and are prohibited. The courses are very challenging and have several very technical sections, thus it is only suitable for experienced cyclists with a good levels of fitness and bike handling skills. Interested in Camping on the Course? Beaver Valley Campgrounds is located at Mile 20 of the Short, Medium & Long Course and serves as Aid Station 1. It’s a 10 minute drive to the start/finish, making it an ideal location to camp for the event. 80 Clay Ridge Rd. Ottsville, PA 18942 For Reservations, call (610) 847-5643 [email protected] The event has multiple Charity partners including Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Delaware Valley Volunteer Fire Company, Tinicum Conservancy, and the PA Chapter of NICA, who each will receive contributions from the event. Rules & Conditions of Entry * All entries are final; no refunds. Entries are not transferable. Please
don't ask. * The event will be held rain or shine. Normal amounts of rain will not cancel the event. * However, in the event of Extreme Weather (such as impassable roads, named storms, or Official Weather Warning), other emergency, or situation beyond the organizers’ control, the organizers reserve the right to cancel the event or reschedule it. In addition to the participant, parents/legal guardians must also sign the waiver for minors. * All participants must check in on-site prior to the ride * The Ride Start Windows are + Long Course: from 8:00AM – 8:30AM + Medium Course: from 8:30AM – 9:00AM + Short Course: from 9:00AM - 9:30AM + Family Ride: from 9:30 - 9:45AM * There is no dedicated
emergency medical service (be prepared to call 911) * The courses are subject to change at any time * Free Parking available at the Delaware Valley Fire Company in Erwinna, PA * While the event is suitable to standard road bikes, it is not for time trial or triathlon bikes. The North East Triathlon is an amazing race in a beautiful location. Just minutes from I-95, a Chesapeake Bay time trial swim and well paved country roads along Elk Neck State Forest make this a great race. The course is low traffic, hilly and technical in places, but has plenty of straightaways and beautiful views. The run course is a lightly rolling, out and back course on the shoulder heading south of town. This Chesapeake Bay waterfront town is worth a weekend away, there are plenty of boats, parks, restaurants and roads to explore.
We know you will love this race, watch our race video to learn more.

Where:
Route 54 Parking Area (Located on PA RT 54 between Mount Carmel and Elysburg)
Weiser State Forest
Roaring Creek Tract
Bear Gap, PA 17824
The race can only be accessed on the Route 54 side of the park. The entrance is 3.5 miles west of the intersection of Route 54 and 61. 4.3 miles east of the intersection on Route 54 with Route 487. (Lat 40.8213, Long -76.4922).
The race gets its name from the species of aquatic salamander known as the hellbender, which are native to the hills and mountains of the eastern U.S., and can grow to as much as two feet long. Because they breathe through their skin, they require healthy, pristine, unpolluted streams and creeks to survive. Due to development and urbanization over recent decades, however, many of their habitats have become fouled and their numbers have drastically declined — they’re just one of the many species the race organizers hope to benefit over the long term with their efforts here.
Both the 5K and the half marathon races follow out-and-back courses that start and finish at the Route 54 parking area in Bear Gap, which lies between the two small towns of Elysburg and and Mount Carmel. From there, runners make their way along the roads that wind along the reservoir lakes inside this 9,000-acre park, one of 16 tracts that make up the Weiser State Forest in what is known as the ridge and valley region of eastern Pennsylvania.
The course for the half marathon is mostly fast and flat through the Roaring Creek Tract, and takes runners both along the shores of the lakes inside the park.

Gravel, farm roads, dirt paths, and singletrack… You can ride all that in 1 day right here in Berks county!
This ride is all about the Social. We start and finish at the Garber's Barn with friends, good food & tasty beverages.
This isn't your typical “gravel grinder” because this region of PA has a wide range of terrain including gravel, trails, quieter paved roads, and shortcuts through the woods to have some fun on! However, if you're not into riding singletrack with drop bars we can provide an option to get around that section.
Barn Gravel is not a race: It is a great time with good people and enough challenging terrain to make you earn some good food & drink. Last year the event got a little warm, and the team is working to bring back the “classic” Barn Gravel vibe in 2026, and possibly switching up the route (sneak peek).
The full route is planned to be around 60-miles and include a wide variety of “gravel” to take on at a casual, or excited, pace. A shorter option will also be available.
There will be 1-2 Aid Stations, that will also include some barn-games and feats of strength to add to the day's antics.
Schedule:
Arrive between 7:30 and 8:30
Ride-Roll Out between 9:00-9:30
Finish Up between 2:00-4:00
Hang Out as long as you like!
Plan to stick around after for the Barn Party!
We'll finish the day with beers, tasty food, music, bonfire, and post-ride camaraderie in the Garber's Barn. Bring your lawn chair and favorite koozie for this part — the after-ride party has a history of turning out to be better than the ride party.
Barn Gravel supports Helping Harvest, and we will ask every participant to bring a food item or cash donation during registration to support local hunger efforts and farmers.
This event is part of the New Jersey Time Trial Cup Series (Race #10) but is open to ALL USAC licensed racers from ANY state.
