One of the most beautiful 26.2 courses in the state of Michigan around Crystal Lake in Beulah. The course starts and finished at the east end of Crystal Lake in Beulah (start and finish rough 400 meters apart).
As in years past, we will be offering runners the chance to run the full 26.2 as a competitive individual. The individual race begins at 7am with teams starting at 8am. We request all individuals and teams finish by 1pm (6 hr cutoff). For those that may need longer, please email and we can setup earlier start time.
Teams of 5 are encouraged, but you may register a team with fewer than 5 runners. If less than 5, the team may determine how they cover the 26.2 mile course.
Packet pickup will take place the Friday evening prior to race day 5-7pm at Beulah Beach (race start location - 284 S. Benzie Blvd, Beulah)
Restrooms will be located at the start of the race along with various locations around the race course. There are no set restrooms out on the course. Water will also be available at roughly 12-15 spots spread throughout the course (No energy gel or Gatorade provided). These "aid" stations are simply volunteers around the lake who will have a table of cups and water out for runners.
All teams are expected to transport themselves around the course to each exchange zone. This is very straightforward and a huge part of the fun! The course is not closed, and it is okay for runners on a team to join teammates for portions of their leg.
Teams of 5 are standard, but other variations are acceptable (3 runners splitting the 5 legs, one runner running 1st and last leg with 3 others taking the middle three, etc.)

First We Live Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt public charity that was founded in memory of Nicole Moniz. Nicole was a supporter and champion of mental health during her life, both personally and professionally, as a social worker and community volunteer; in the wake of her untimely death, the First We Live Foundation was created in recognition of the special person she was and the connections she made with so many; and as a result, the Nicole Moniz Memorial 5k has become an annual event in her honor to raise awareness and fund our mission to support and cultivate access to integrated mental health programs and services for those who encounter societal barriers in identifying and attending to their mental health needs, especially youth and those engaged in helping professions.
First We Live Foundation Core Belief: The primary thing we, as humans, all have in common is that first we live. From the moment we come into this world, the thing that unifies each of us — that defines our existence and our purpose — is that we’re living beings. Living, therefore, must never be taken for granted. First we live… so we can. We live so we can both help and be helped. We live so we can experience the incredible moments and persevere through the challenging ones. We live so we can endure the pain and relish the joys. Through this core belief, we give ourselves the chance to first just live. We live for others and for ourselves. The central truth is that, above all else… first we must live.
First We Live Foundation Mission: We support and cultivate access to integrated mental health programs and services for those who encounter societal barriers in identifying and attending to their mental health needs, especially youth and those engaged in helping professions.
