Run the Pier Running Festival is a premier annual race experience set along the beautiful Manistee lakeshore, showcasing some of the most iconic scenery Northern Michigan has to offer.
Participants will run out onto Manistee’s historic North Pier, circling the legendary lighthouse before heading back along the shoreline in one of four race options: 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, or Full Marathon. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or simply taking in the views, this is a course you won’t forget.
This year’s festival features 600 total finisher awards—so run strong and earn yours. Every registered athlete will receive an Official Run the Pier Running Festival T-shirt, along with additional swag items (to be announced).
The Full Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K courses wind along scenic Lakeshore Drive, delivering sweeping Lake Michigan views, fresh air, and a true Northern Michigan running experience. All routes will be published on our website and shared through participant newsletters once finalized—thank you for your patience as we finalize details.
Run the Pier continues to grow each year, welcoming 600+ athletes from out of town, bringing energy and excitement to Manistee each summer.

Give your metabolism a boost over Thanksgiving Reconnect Weekend with our Turkey Vulture Trot 5k and 1-Mile Fun Run! The 5K will begin at 9am on Thursday, November 27 on our Mountain Center Road course. The 1-Mile Fun Run will begin at 10am. A portion of the proceeds will benefit North Sky Raptor Sanctuary .
A commemorative medal will be awarded to the top 3 men and women in each age group for the 5K race. All Fun Run participants will receive a finisher medal. The overall male and female winner of the 5K will receive a Crystal Mountain Prize Pack valued at over $200.
We are excited to announce that for our 2025 Turkey Vulture Trot we will now have Chip timing! Runners will receive a bib with a small electronic device that records their time as they cross the starting line and the finish line.

The first 100 5k racers to sign up will receive a water bottle. Race supplies will be available for advance pickup at the Park at Water’s Edge on Wednesday, November 26 from 12pm - 4pm. Check-in on race day will be in the Kinlochen Lobby outside of The Thistle. Awards ceremony will take place at approximately 10:30am at the Lodge Pavilion Tent, slopeside near the Crystal Clipper.
