September 13, 2025: ALLEGHENY TRAILRUNNERS INC. IS PROUD TO PRESENT THE 14TH ANNUAL ROCK ’N THE KNOB – PA’S HIGHEST RACE. BREAKING THE WILL OF ALL WHO DARE TRY…
The Ultramarathon Course (50K) begins at 6:00am and the Medium Distance Course (20K-25K) starts at 9:00am and the Short Course (10K) starts at 10am.
The race will offer three courses: a Short Course (10K-ish), a Medium Distance Course (20K-25K) and a challenging Ultramarathon Course (50K) for the more experienced.
TAKEAWAYS:
Short Course (10K-ish): This course may be the most challenging 10K in PA* (*based on the fastest and average finish times.) The 10K features challenges like Tree-odge, Devils Hairpin, Throat Punch Hill and Soul Sucker Slopes! Two major climbs give you over 1350 feet of climbing. There is one aid station at the base of the first climb called Throat Punch Hill at 3 miles. More: http://www.alleghenytrailrunners.com/rock-n-the-knob-trail-challenge/
Medium Distance Course (20K-25K): Get ready – this race is a doozy. We took the marathon course and cutting it in half but leaving in more than half of the challenges and sufferfest. The half features some gnarly sections like Blister Blaster, Teal is Real up Deep Hollow Notch, I'll Nettle Do This Again and I Need a Sherpa! We are amending the course in 2021 to include more elevation madness with almost 3500 feet of climbing - or 7000 feet of elevation change. There are three aid stations and a six 1/2-hour time limit. There are 3 Aid Stations: At Chappelle's Field (Mile 4.6); At Ravens Rest (Mile 7.2); At Heavens Hairpin (Mile 11.1). More: http://www.alleghenytrailrunners.com/rock-n-the-knob-trail-challenge/
Ultramarathon: For mountain-goats, this course will brake the will of many as you repeatedly attempt to ascend Blue Knob Mountain, the most northern 3,000+ foot peak in the Alleghenies. The 50K is our infamous mountain marathon “boosted” to an ultramarathon which includes all the ‘greatest hits’ of both the medium course and 10k races. More - http://www.alleghenytrailrunners.com/rock-n-the-knob-trail-challenge/

Blue Knob Mountain Bike Association Mountain Bike Challenge Blue Knob Mountain Bike Association (BKMTBA) is once again holding its 13.7-mile and 25.4-mile races that will incorporate both the trail systems at Blue Knob All Season Resort and Blue Knob State Park on August 15, 2026. The primary purpose and goals of BKMTBA in hosting the festival and race are to draw attention, increase notoriety, and attract patronage to both Blue Knob All Season Resort and Blue Knob State Park. It is the belief of BKMTBA that the Blue Knob Mountain area, as a whole, and all of its amenities are relatively unknown within and outside the state. It is the stated goal of BKMTBA that by increasing the number of events that are open to the general public, as well as events that target specific groups, such as the mountain bike community, the Blue Knob Mountain area, and the surrounding communities of Blair, Bedford, Cambria, and Centre counties, the area will be identified as a weekend and vacation destination.
Blue Knob Mountain Bike Challenge has been registered and advertised on BikeReg.com services and website. Racers can follow the link to register. The site allows racers to register and pay through the site. The race will have ten categories that participants can choose from. We also have a single-speed category that will follow the 25.4-mile race course and is open to Men 18+ y/o and Women 18+ y/o. The registration fee for categories for men and women 18+ will be $50, and the youth categories will be $30. All registered racers will receive a complimentary race shirt. REGISTRATION
Before you sign up please note we DO NOT and WILL NOT offer any refunds, deferrals, bib switches or transfers of any sort for any reason. We will not respond to any email inquiries asking for such requests. If you do not like this rule please do not sign up for this race.
All runners must register using their legal names printed on their drivers license. All runners must sign a waiver either electronically via online registration or at race day registration.
This event is held rain or shine.
RACE BIBS
Race bibs will have a chip on the back for chip timing Please do not fold or damage the chip - doing so will result in your time not being recorded and we don't want that to happen.
Race bibs MUST be worn on the FRONT of the runner and VISIBLE at ALL TIMES so we can check runners in at aid stations and verify at the finish.
You must run under your own registered race bib / registered name. Running under someone else bib or name that is not yours is not allowed.
NO BANDITS
No one other than the registered runner may run in the race. The assigned race bib is only for the use of the registered runner and no runner shall transfer or give a bib to another non registered runner. Any person running under another runners bib number is not allowed or tolerated.
Runners agree not to allow any unauthorized use of a race bib or registration. If so both the non registered runner and registered owner of the bib will be held solely responsible for any action including legal action for allowing another person to use their registration.
Why we stress this point and make it a "Big Deal"?
Bib numbers our YOUR identifier out on the trail. If their is an emergency your bib number tells us who YOU are in an emergency. It allows us to contact your emergency contact information if needed because we will know who you are. We also need to know who is out on the trail and if we are looking for someone and we think we are looking for "John" or "Sarah" and yelling those names on a trail and your running under someone else's bib and your name is actually "Bill" or "Jane" what good does that do? We also have private property owners land that we run on and waivers that need signed. I could go on but you get what I'm saying.........
CHIP TIMING
This event is chip timed. The start of the race is a gun time. Meaning the race will start (along with everyone's time) at the same time 10:00am. So the closer to the starting line you may want to be. Your time will be recorded at the finish.
Aid Stations / Water Stops:
It is recommended that you carry your own water, power bars, gels and anything you feel you may need out on the trails. If allergic to bees (see our bee warning), bring what you need, just in case. We will have several aid stations along the trail:
Road Crossing (Mile 2) - WATER ONLY
Aid Station #1 House Rock (Mile 3) - WATER / SPORTS DRINK ONLY
Aid Station #2 Pinnacle Overlook (Mile 7) - WATER /SPORTS DRINK/ BANANA / PRETZELS / CRACKERS & MORE
FINISH LINE: POST RACE PICNIC- We will provide food, chips, pretzels, other snacks, water, sodas and other goodies in pavilion #2 after the race. Please plan to stay and enjoy the party and award ceremony. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted at the race site.
COURSE MARKINGS & COURSE WARNINGS
The Conestoga Trail Race is a well marked course and marked with ORANGE RIBBON. This race DOES NOT always stay on the Conestoga Trail. It goes onto unmarked trail and private property. Even those spots are well marked with ORANGE RIBBON. FOLLOW THE ORANGE RIBBON AT ALL TIMES. Once off private property from Bridge Valley Rd to the finish we follow all current reroutes of the trail system. We do not use any closed trails on public lands!!! Follow the ribbon!!!!
BE TRAIL SMART! Although the course is well marked it is ultimately the responsibility of the runner to stay on course. If you do not see Orange Ribbon - YOU ARE NOT ON THE TRAIL and that means you might get ALOT of tough extra miles or perhaps totally lost. We only want you to get the miles you paid for so be sure to stay on a trail where there is Orange ribbon. If you do not see ribbon and are lost go back to last spot you saw ribbon and get back on trail. This race has a sweeper and we check you in at each aid station but you must be responsible to stay on course.
NO COURSE CUTTING - Course cutting is cheating. You must follow the marked race course.
If you require assistance along the course PLEASE STAY ON THE TRAIL!!!!! If you can make it to an aid station please do so and we can assist you from there. If you cannot make it to an aid station and you see another runner please ask the runner to report you to the next aid station. We will have fresh legs available to reach you from an aid station. Otherwise our race Sweepers will locate you as they sweep the course. It is important to stay on the trail.
Course Marshalls and Volunteers - You must listen to the directions of all course marshals' and volunteers. ANY disrespect towards a course official or volunteer is unacceptable and will not be tolerated and may lead to disqualification. Our volunteers make the race happen and give freely of their time. We love our volunteers!!!
THERE ARE BEES ON THIS COURSE
If you have a known allergy you ARE REQUIRED to carry an EpiPen - at least one & Benadryl and any other medication. Bees and bee stings can be very serious and very dangerous. Please take this precaution seriously. We want everyone to have a fun and safe race and also know there are bees / yellow jackets on this course. Enough that the Conservancy even has signs posted of the danger and have closed preserves due to the danger. And if there is an emergency depending where you are on the trail it can take some time to reach you.
DO NOT LITTER
This really should go without saying, however, if you are caught littering you will be disqualified from the race and asked to leave the course. Litterbugs will not be tolerated. You'll be banned from any races we put on in the future.
CUTOFF TIME
EVERY RUNNER MUST READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS CUTOFF TIME AND THE RULE. If you don't like it please do not sign up for this race.

You must check in to this aid station with 2-1/2 hours. This means you must be physically within the aid station within the cutoff time. If a runner reaches the aid station at the 2-1/2 cutoff time they will have 5 minutes to depart or they may not continue.

The Historic Drawbridge Running Festival will take place on Saturday, October 31st, 2026.. The half will navigate from Tilghman Island, straight up Route 33, and to St Michaels, making one of the only true turns of the race in to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum!! That's a 13.1 mile STRAIGHT RUN with little to no elevation or turns!!!
The Full marathon will follow the same course, but turn right on Bozman-Neavitt Rd (MD Route 579) and travel through tiny Bozman, and turn around right before Neavitt, before you turn around and return to St Michaels, rejoining the marathon course around mile 24.
Our 5k event, starting at 830am, will start and finish from the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum!!! The course will be 1.55 out and back on the same course as the Full and Half.
RUNNERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO CROSS THE MAT WITHIN THE FIRST 5 MINUTES (8:00:00 TO 8:05:00) TO PROPERLY DISTANCE THEMSELVES. ALL RUNNERS MUST BE ON SITE AT THE START BY 7:45am.
We encourage participants to take advantage of the buses that will be available at the Maritime Museum on race morning to transport you to the start line at the on Tilghman Island, which is where the race starts. This way your vehicle is available for you upon your finish at the entrance to the Maritime Museum. From the start at Tilghman, we will begin as a group, with traffic briefly shut down on the Island, until we can get everyone safely over the FIRST OF TWO DRAWBRIDGES and on to the shoulder of MD Route 33. Aide stations will be located along the course for your hydration and nutrition needs.
A eight (8) hour cutoff, for the marathon and half marathon, will let you move as fast as you like, all the way to an 18 min 30 second pace. Perfect for those recovering from a long season, or just pushing their limits at the end of the year.
Our friends at the marathon distance will get a whopping 8 hours to complete the event!!!
Hosted at Pleasants Landing Marina at Lake Anna, this race and venue are amazing. The time trial swim takes place in the southeast portion of Lake Anna, about 1/4 mile from where the “hot side” of Lake Anna empties into the cold side, resulting in water temperatures that are 4-6 degree’s warmer than the rest of the lake at this time of year. So, you can look forward to above average water temperatures in mid-October. The last open water race of the regular season Olympic starts at 9AM and the Sprint starts at 9:30AM, so you can sleep in a little and make it a day at the lake with family and friends. The race site and finish line are surrounded by water and have a view of the Blue Ridge Mountains to the West; it’s a great place to spend the weekend outside.
