    Event Update!

Due to the extreme and potentially dangerous water and weather conditions we will not be allowed to go into the ocean tomorrow.

The event will proceed as planned with a ceremony starting at 10AM at Beacon Blvd. Beach. Hoodie/wristband pickup starts at 9AM.

At 10:30 we will be doing a Patriot Polar Dash! - All who wish to participate can run or walk over to the abandoned sailboat on the beach (about 100 yards away) for a group photo wearing as much, or as little, clothing as you want!

We will have patriotic face and body paint and temporary tattoos available. Please do not touch or get on the sailboat.

After-party with breakfast buffet to immediately follow at Rod's Tavern in Sea Girt. Street parking is available throughout the town.

If you prefer, you may head directly to Rod's for 10:30AM and you can pick up your hoodie and wristband there.

Address for Ceremony/Plunge: 2 Ocean Ave, Sea Girt, NJ 08750

Rod's Tavern: 507 Washington Blvd., Sea Girt, NJ 08750

Please dress accordingly (as if you were going skiing) with multiple layers, winter coat, hat, gloves, face covering, etc. Do not come to the outdoor portion of the festivities if you have any underlying health conditions that would make it unsafe to do so.

Scheduled to perform are the 63rd Army Band, NJ State Police Pipes and Drums of the Blue and Gold, and current American Idol contestant and Police Officer, Julia Santiago. Also scheduled to appear are NJ State Police Mounted Unit horses, State Marine Police boats and helicopter fly-over. We will also present our 2026 Patriot Polar Plunge Veteran of the Year Award.

We will have 50/50 raffle tickets on sale for $10 each both at the plunge and at Rod's, and will also be selling Plunge Winter Hats and Extra Hoodies.

Thank you and let's have some fun helping our heroes as we benefit the LIFT Fund for Veterans at Monmouth County Habitat for Humanity!

    Why We Walk

Around the world, millions of people still lack reliable access to clean, safe water. Did you know that on average, women and children walk an average of 4 miles each day just to collect water? This event is not only a tribute to them, but it will also empower them. Each person who registers to walk with us will be changing someone's life that day! You walk 4 miles - and someone else in the world never has to take that 4 mile walk for water again.

It's the true demonstration of how seemingly small actions in life can have a big ripple effect!

So join us — walk with purpose, walk with community. Lead with LOVE and change a life!

In early 2021, Stacie Roman experienced a profound loss when her beloved father, John Stephen Westcott, passed away from COVID pneumonia on February 12th. Grief-stricken yet determined, Stacie sought a way to honor her father's legacy.

By June of the same year, Stacie collaborated with Rami's Heart Corp to organize our inaugural event—a walk that combined both physical and virtual participation. This gathering was more than just a walk; it was a testament to love, resilience, and remembrance. Together, we supported Rami's Heart COVID-19 Memorial, a place where the memories of lost loved ones find solace. Thanks to Stacie's efforts, we raised some of the funds needed to establish the nation's first permanent national COVID-19 memorial.

As another year passes, Stacie and the Rami's Heart team are preparing for our 6th Annual Walk to Remember. The main event will take place at the Belmar Beach Boardwalk in New Jersey, the original site of the memorial before it relocated to Allaire Community Farm in Wall Township, NJ.

However, this 5k walk/run can be done anywhere in the USA. No matter where you walk or run, your steps matter. Each stride contributes to our cause, supporting Rami's Heart COVID-19 Memorial and Rami's Heart Corp in continuing our vital work. Funds raised go towards maintaining the memorial, covering essential expenses, and hosting ceremonies and events to honor our loved ones.

As participants, you have three options:

    1. Walk anywhere in the USA.

    2. Join Stacie and the Rami's Heart team, along with fellow grievers, at the Belmar Boardwalk, New Jersey.

    3. Join fellow grievers in Fall River, Massachusetts.

Let us walk together, side by side, carrying the memories of our loved ones forward. Together, we walk to remember. Together, we keep their legacies alive, one step at a time.

The 11th Annual Run The Hook 5K/10K returns to Sandy Hook National Park, NJ on May 10th, 2026 in support of local non-profit Clean Ocean Action.

All runners receive a commemorative pint glass as they cross the finish line in addition to a t-shirt, closed course on Sandy Hook National Park, and chip timed results.

National Parks Service has imposed a cap on attendance again this year. Registration will be open to 600 runners only. Please register early if you'd like to participate and support Clean Ocean Action.

Priority Registration will open Tuesday, February 17th at 10:00 AM until Thursday, February 19th at 9:59 AM. This is an exclusive registration period for all 2024 and 2025 participants to sign up at a discount for themselves and up to three friends.

Login to Runsignup using the name and email used to register previously to access the tickets. Only the main ticket buyer needs to have registered previously, however the additional friends need to be registered at the same time.

General On Sale for all other participants will open Thursday, February 19th at 10:00 AM.

A portion of proceeds from the race go directly to Clean Ocean Action so they can continue to work to improve the quality of our local bodies of water and protect them from pollution and industrialization. The race is fittingly situated on a less than 1 mile wide peninsula surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and Sandy Hook Bay giving runners an opportunity to run in a truly unique and natural setting.

Run The Hook is proud to be a single-use plastic free event as part of our mission to rid the beaches and oceans of plastic litter and pollution.

Advanced bib and shirt pick up will be at Road Runner Sports on Saturday, May 9th from 11 AM - 2 PM. Same day pick up will be available starting at 7:00 AM in the start/finish area. You are able to pick up for multiple runners if you have their bib numbers. Bibs will be assigned at check-in.
