What is Sista Strut?
Sista Strut aims to heighten awareness about the issues of breast cancer in women of color, as well as provide information on community resources. Studies show that African American women are more likely to get breast cancer at a younger age and have a death rate from breast cancer higher than Caucasian women of the same age. Sista Strut recognizes the strength of survivors, their family and friends, heightens awareness, promotes early detection and the search for a cure.

African American women in the U.S. have a 41% higher death rate from breast cancer than white women.

African American women are more likely than white women to be diagnosed with breast cancer before age 40 and are more likely to be diagnosed with larger tumors.
-
Awareness of these issues will help survival rates with earlier diagnoses.
Registration Fees
Now - February 28th: $15 per individual / $20 per team member
March 1 - March 31: $20 per individual / $25 per team member
April 1 - May 9: $25 per individual / $30 per team member
'Please note there is a per person processing fee
Registration fee includes the Sista Strut t-shirt and backpack. Team members will also receive the official Team Member Souvenir.

The color of the rainbow is as diverse as the people in our community. To celebrate this diversity, MS Capital City Pride offers the fifth annual Rainbow Run 5k (and children's rainbow fun run). An inclusive, fun and competitive race that honors all LGBTQ+ individuals and the allies that support us as it raises money for LGBTQ+ causes.
This amazing race on Saturday June 13, 2026 at 8 am will run through the beautiful and historic Fondren neighborhood in Jackson, MS. The race will start and stop at Broadmeadow UMC park (4419 Broadmeadow Drive, Jackson, MS 39206).
PACKET PICKUP is Friday, June 12 4-6:30 pm at Broadmeadow UMC, or race morning beginning at 7 am. Onsite registration available. Day of registration $55.
