TRI IT YOUR WAY (VIRTUAL CATEGORY)
Can't make it in person? No Problem!
Here's how Tri It Your Way works:
Pick your triathlon activities! Remember, you can either swim the 400 yards or choose another activity to do for 10 minutes. The bike needs to be at least 10 miles and the run needs to be at least a 5K (yes, you may go over, but not under!).
SAFETY FIRST! Make sure you are taking all the safety precautions when swimming, biking, and running. This means not swimming alone and following all the rules of the road (or trail). Just like all the precautions you take when training or racing an event, we want you to be safe.
Record each activity with your watch, or phone, or bike computer.
Document your tri! Whether it’s someone taking pictures of you “racing” or stopping for a selfie mid-run. We want to see you in action! Dogs, kids, partners, friends (socially distanced, of course) are encouraged to join in with you!
Go to our event page and post your “race” data and your pictures. OR email your pics and race data to [email protected].
USAT SANCTIONED
Results will count toward national and regional rankings. All USAT rules and regulations will apply. Racers are subject to time penalties or disqualification for infractions of USAT rules.
You are required to have either an annual or 1-day (Bronze) USA Triathlon membership in order to race in any USAT-sanctioned event. Non-USAT members will be required to purchase a one-day event insurance license from USA Triathlon. Costs: $14.99/sprint, $24.99/olympic, $9 per relay team member, $10 for youth.
MASSACHUSETTS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
This is a 2026 USA Triathlon State Championships Ranking Point Event. Residents of Massachusetts can earn points which — combined with results in other qualifying races — will be totaled by USA Triathlon at the end of 2026. Note: you must participate in at least three qualifying races to be eligible for State Champion.
Round out the summer with one last coastal challenge.
The Second Beach Sprint Triathlon is a late-season race set entirely within some of Aquidneck Island’s most scenic and protected landscapes. Designed to be welcoming for first-time triathletes while still offering a rewarding course for experienced racers, this sprint is the perfect way to close out your summer of training.
The Course:
Swim
The race begins with an open-ocean swim off iconic Second Beach. Athletes will experience true coastal conditions in a clearly marked course with excellent sightlines and shoreline support.
Bike
The bike leg rolls through the scenic farmland of Middletown, featuring quiet roads, open views, and gentle elevation changes that reward steady effort without being overly technical.
Run
The run is the signature piece of the race, taking athletes out toward Sachuest Point and looping around the reservoir near Third Beach and Hanging Rock Road. This section winds entirely through protected nature preserve areas, offering a rare and beautiful racing environment surrounded by open land, water, and coastal views.
