Lifeline 100 is a “rain or shine” event. However, if, together with our public safety partners, we determine that conditions would be unsafe, the event may be canceled. In the unlikely event of a cancellation, we will continue to support our nonprofits.
Unfortunately, there is no rain date, transfers to another event year, or refund (unless you purchase premium cancellation insurance at Active.com when you register).

Each participant is required to fundraise at least $100 in addition to their registration fee. The tools to help you reach the fundraising goal will be provided. Fundraisers who exceed $500 will have their registration fee reimbursed. .
Swimmers participate as pods. A pod is 2-4 similarly speeded swimmers. Every pod has a support boat with them. The Solo Swim All 5 Miles option allows for the pod to swim the entire distance with a dedicated paddler. Solo Pods may bring their own paddler, or request that option at check out. The Take a Turn Swim/Paddle pod functions as a relay, taking turns paddling. Swimmers may register with friends as a fully formed pod, or may register individually into one of our paced pods.

Located just south of the Capital Beltway in Lorton, this beautiful race course includes a mixture of forested and open meadow singletrack meandering through 1600 acres of the former prison grounds. The race starts and ends under the old guard towers at the Workhouse Arts Center, which is the site of the former Lorton Reformatory. The course is one of our least technical and most of it is on singletrack that is a mix of dirt and crushed stone. The only short pavement sections are at the beginning and end of the race. There are no extended climbs, but lots of short ups and downs.
Race Date: Sunday October 4, 2026
Course Length: 5.4 miles (1 lap) OR 10 miles (2 laps)
