Share the Road Gran Fondo
Cycling connects us to our communities in unique and powerful ways. It’s more than just a mode of transportation—it’s freedom, joy, and independence. But today, too many cyclists face unsafe conditions on Ontario’s roads. This ride is about changing that.
By participating in the Share the Road Gran Fondo, you’re helping to create safer roads and communities for cyclists. Funds raised will directly support Share the Road Cycling Coalition's mission, from advancing safer cycling infrastructure to delivering education campaigns and advocating for meaningful change.
This event honors OPP Sergeant Greg Stobbart, whose tragic death while cycling in 2006 inspired the creation of the Share the Road Cycling Coalition. Greg’s story serves as a powerful reminder of why we ride—to create safer roads for everyone, ensuring no other families have to face such devastating loss.
On Sunday September 20th come to ride with us in Milton and the neighbouring municipalities to experience cycling in Halton Region. Our event prioritizes safety and will depart from the spacious Mattamy National Cycling Centre.
The event will feature an engaging pre ride and post ride expo and participants will have the option to chose between a 40km, 80km or 110km distance, featuring some of the best roads in Halton. The route will be full marked and will feature rest stops every 20-30km. Printed maps will be available at check-in.
Proceeds from the event support the ongoing work of the Share the Road Cycling Coalition, helping to advance cycling safety and advocacy across Ontario. Registration is $250, which includes a $125 charitable donation. Participants will receive a tax receipt for the donation portion of their registration.
Please contact greg@performancedrivenevents or [email protected] if you have questions.

Join us on September 26th, 2026 at the Springwater Conservation Area in Aylmer (40 minutes from London) for the 4th edition of The Howling Ghost Trail Race!
You can choose to complete the New Era Grafix 8k, Always Moving 16k, or The BackRoads Brews + Shoes 24k through the beautiful Carolinian forest of Springwater.
For the second year, you can challenge yourself to complete 8k during the Structural Panels Inc. Night Howl sub event! Headlamps are mandatory in the night race.
You could also try the ultimate challenge, by taking on the Day/Night Challenge. Run one of the day races, and come back for the Night Howl!
This race is perfect for runners of all abilities. If you're new to trail running, this is a great place to run your first trail race. If you're an experienced trail runner, this is a great spot to run a personal best.
The trails are mostly wide, groomed, and extremely runnable!
Depending on your race, you'll run 1 loop, 2 loops, or 3 loops of the 8k course. The course is a beauty!
Your registration includes your admission to Springwater. Tell them at the gate that you'll be running, and they will let you in. We'll be paying on your behalf out of your registration (all of your adoring fans will have to pay a $10 admission per car).
Gates open at 9 a.m. for the day races.
For the night race, gates will be staffed at 6 p.m.
You should be good to run this race in trail or road shoes depending on the weather.
Like all Persistence Racing events, a portion of event proceeds will be donated to the Children's Health Foundation. The runner who raises the most will be awarded a free entry to next year's Howling Ghost.
Speaking of free entries, some have asked about this being a Halloween race, well, it's around that time of year, and we acknowledge that the name sounds like it would be. So, if you want to dress up, feel free. We'll award the best individual costume with a $50 race credit for a future event of their choice, and the best duo or group, with a $200 credit to be split among the group. Just make sure your bib is still visible with any costumes so we know who to get in touch with. You've got to run in costume to be eligible!
Additionally, if you're looking for some post-race recovery, check out our partners at Frigid Recovery. Tell them that you ran the race, and you'll receive 20% off of your cold immersion therapy.
Race Sanctioning
The Howling Ghost has always been sanctioned by Athletics Ontario and we've applied again for this year. We'll update this section once it's complete.

KIDS MARATHON RETURNS FOR A 3RD YEAR!
The Kids Marathon is an empowering fitness initiative designed to get children moving while supporting a great cause. This program challenges kids to complete the distance of a full marathon—42.2 kilometers—in a way that is achievable, healthy, and incredibly rewarding.
Expert Coaching & Support
Your child won't be running this journey alone! Participants will be coached and cheered on by a team of dedicated experts, including:
Bryan Cowden: Race Director and Boston Marathoner.
Becky Abrametz: Experienced long-distance runner, and teacher of primary-aged students.
Community Volunteers: A passionate team of local runners and supporters.
How It Works
The journey begins over the summer months. Participants track their progress as they walk or run 41.2 kilometers at their own pace in their own neighborhoods or on local tracks. By staying active and consistent, they build endurance and confidence one kilometer at a time under the guidance of our experienced team.
The Big Finale
The final 1 kilometer take place on race night under the lights! Surrounded by a high-energy atmosphere of neon and community spirit, the kids cross the official finish line alongside their coaches and peers to complete their full marathon distance.
