2026 Participant Info

To keep runners spaced out a bit we plan to have two starts, 5-minutes apart to help space runners out for the first few kilometers. Please choose your start wave based on your expected race time. We would like the fastest runners to go out first to avoid congestion and traffic. Please choose Wave 1 if you plan to complete your race around 3 hours or less. Please choose Wave 2 if you plan to be longer than 3 hours. This race is chip timed, your start wave will not impact your time.

Welcome to the 4th edition of The Callous Crow trail race at Crowbar Hiking Trails in Porters Lake, Nova Scotia. The land these trails pass over is part of the Waverley - Salmon River Long Lake Wilderness Area. This trail system is maintained by the team at The Crowbar Lake Wilderness Association (CLWA) and their team of volunteers. For more information about the CLWA including info about the trail system please visit their Facebook Page or Website.

This event will take place on narrow technical trails that meander their way through old-growth forests while passing by many massive granite boulders and rocky outcrops, some of which offer up expansive views.

We reckon this is one of the toughest half-marathon distance races in these parts thanks to the challenging terrain. We are pretty excited about having access to this trail system and showing everyone all it has to offer. This race will test everyone's technical trail running ability while keeping the distance at an inclusive length.

There is just one distance at the Callous Crow, a 21ish km trail race. The course is much more technical than some of our other races, with roots, rocks and lots of leaves to keep you watching your footing. There are some steep ascents and some fun downhills in there too!

There will be amazing prizing for the male and female podium from Salomon, Smartwool, and Eastwood Pottery. There's also lots of other prizes up for grabs as always.

We hope you can join us for a fun and memorable day of technical trail racing!

$3 from every race entry will be donated to the trail system.

Please note there will be an enforced cutoff at the 7.6km mark of this race. All competitors must reach this point under 2 hours from the start to continue around the loop. Anyone who doesn't reach this point by the cutoff will be asked to run the shortened (13km route). Our goal is to have everyone off the trail within 5 hours of the start. FYI...everyone made the cutoff last year!

Please note the cutoff to order all merchandise is March 14th, 2025 @11:59pm.

***The Fine Print - There will be no refunds from AO on this event but you can transfer your registration to another person up to April 17th, 2025 @ noon directly through Race Roster for $1.95 + processing fee. We have turned on Race Rosters "Enhanced Refund Protection" that can be purchased for a small fee during registration.

In an effort to preserve the trails. If the trails are deemed too wet to race on April 25th we will be using May 2nd as our rain date.

We will send an email out to all participants prior to the race with more details. You can also follow us @allouttrailracing on Instagram for the latest updates.

Please note the will be no dogs allowed on the course, but are welcome at the start-finish

Despite slavery being abolished, anti-Black racism is still prevalent in our provinces and country. To honour Emancipation Day (August 1), collectively we are accepting that slavery existed in what we now call Canada. As a founder and co-organizer of Black Lives Matter (BLM) - In This TOGETHER, our executive team wanted to look at ways to enable our group’s mission statement (see below) to educate, but also create a better understanding of slavery and its implications on the social determinants of health of people of African ancestry.

It is extremely important to spread awareness through acknowledging but also acting on ways to address anti-black racism past and present. To do so, we must acknowledge, act, and ameliorate.

The Emancipation Run/Walk is just one small step at MOVING forward in the right direction!

A little bit about BLM - In This TOGETHER: BLM- In this TOGETHER was formed on July 11, 2020 in Cherry Brook, Nova Scotia. This was largely in response to George Floyd’s death and the means to spread awareness by unifying people to MOVE within the BLM Movement, as sitting still does nothing.

Our group, BLM - In this TOGETHER supports the BLM Movement. This is done in contrary to the fact of everything that is going on in this world that has implicated the lives of Black people, and even here in Nova Scotia.

Our vision is to move within the Movement and to move to dismantle inequality, racism, police brutality, and systematic racism, but also bringing awareness to the impacts of such experiences on one’s overall health.
