These rules also address factors that can impact the health and safety of our canine and human teammates - things like the age of the dog for competition, sport-specific gear requirements for humans and dogs, trail rules (such as passing), and good sportsmanship.

All participants must review and adhere to the following documents prior to race day:

    • MAHDS Rules for Participants

    • MAHDS Code of Conduct

RACE MEETINGS: There will be no in-person race briefings. All important information such as start lists, course routes, etc. will be conveyed in advance via the Facebook Event or Race Roster. Start lists and course maps will be posted on site.

INSURANCE: This event is sanctioned and insured under the Maritime Association of Harness Dog Sports ("MAHDS").

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR ATHLETES: The MAHDS Code of Conduct must be adhered to by all athletes.

TEMPERATURE: We will be applying MAHDS Temperature Guidelines for this event. These guidelines lay out exactly what you can expect in terms of the Event Organizer's response to temperature changes.

Urban Trail Racing is kicking off the spring season in this beautiful protected wilderness area. We kick off from Maskwa Aquatics Club parking lot and head into this amazing wilderness area. Lots of single track, beautiful lakes, and a chance to find your way in this protected wilderness. Similar to last year we're bringing back Halifax Search and Rescue's Eco-Endurance Challenge (E2C). You may see some of the 24 hour contestants on the course.

This year the race is on Sunday again.

    Race Details:

    • We are upping our leave no trace approach by asking all participants to bring drinking containers with them for the aid stations.

    • Onsite medical support will be provided by Halifax Search & Rescue Medical teams.

    • Trail stewards from Friends of Blue Mountain Birch Cove Lakes will be volunteering to help with directions.

    • Funds raised beyond costs will be donated to Halifax Search & Rescue and Friends of Blue Mountain Birch Cove Lakes

    • GPX route will be uploaded on our site.

As with all of our races we will be supporting Halifax Search & Rescue and the local Friends of Blue Mountain Birch Cove Lakes through donations.

    Who are we?

Bumrun is a charity that raises awareness of colon cancer screening and prevention.

For 15 years, we have organized 5K walk/run events and raised more than $1.8 million net for various colon cancer charity organizations.

Our funds go toward colon cancer research, enhancing patient support programs for families living with colon cancer, and raising awareness of colon cancer screening and prevention.

Canada has one of the highest colon cancer rates in the world, affecting 1 in 16 Canadians. But 90% of deaths could be prevented with screening, so get ahead of your behind and join us this Bumrun!
