First We Live Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt public charity that was founded in memory of Nicole Moniz. Nicole was a supporter and champion of mental health during her life, both personally and professionally, as a social worker and community volunteer; in the wake of her untimely death, the First We Live Foundation was created in recognition of the special person she was and the connections she made with so many; and as a result, the Nicole Moniz Memorial 5k has become an annual event in her honor to raise awareness and fund our mission to support and cultivate access to integrated mental health programs and services for those who encounter societal barriers in identifying and attending to their mental health needs, especially youth and those engaged in helping professions.
First We Live Foundation Core Belief: The primary thing we, as humans, all have in common is that first we live. From the moment we come into this world, the thing that unifies each of us — that defines our existence and our purpose — is that we’re living beings. Living, therefore, must never be taken for granted. First we live… so we can. We live so we can both help and be helped. We live so we can experience the incredible moments and persevere through the challenging ones. We live so we can endure the pain and relish the joys. Through this core belief, we give ourselves the chance to first just live. We live for others and for ourselves. The central truth is that, above all else… first we must live.
First We Live Foundation Mission: We support and cultivate access to integrated mental health programs and services for those who encounter societal barriers in identifying and attending to their mental health needs, especially youth and those engaged in helping professions.
Funds raised from this event will support First We Live Foundation, Inc.

An event brought to you by TYDISH Running. It’s our second annual event here and we are excited for it! My deep love for sunset chasing and the sound of waves crashing isn’t immediately a “that’s so Wisconsin’ thought. Welp, allow us to introduce you to Sheboygan’s Kohler-Andrae State Park. Very Wisconsin and a total gem if you haven’t been here yet. This 9 mile, 6:45pm start event contains a good mix of earth. It’s also very flat earth with a total elevation ascent of 509ft and 485ft of descent. After your event you are invited to stay while we cheer, chill and snack. Please note unless you have a campsite reserved, the park closes at 11pm and we must be off the property by then. We invite you to also invite family and friends to join you! While you’re out on the course there’s plenty for them to do awaiting your return.Being this is a Wisconsin State Park, daily or annual passes are to be had and correctly placed on your vehicle’s windshield. Option is to pre purchase (yourpassnow.com) or pay at the gate upon arrival.
The course.
-You will have 3 hours to complete this course. That’s a 20 minute mile pace for this 9 mile event.Starting from the indoor shelter area you will take a concrete path down towards the playground. From there wide trails will greet you as you head on to the Woodland Dunes trail. This takes you through some campground areas before finding its way back to the shoreline. By mile 1.05 you are greeted to sand. Hello Lake Michigan!!! Please stay as close to the shoreline as possible or as your comfort allows. Where the sand is the most saturated is the easiest surface to run on.-Around mile 2.8 you will exit by the dog exercise area (P2). There’s a restroom here if you need one.-While carefully staying on the right hand side of Beach Park Lane you will continue on to S. 12th St./Co.Rd. V.-Roughly 0.6miles on V (please stay off the road and on the shoulder) you will enter onto a path bringing you to the Black River trail system. Course markers will guide your way through these wide, very easy going marsh, pine and prairie trails. The loop created will bring you back to the path that you entered on from the road.-You’ll head back (now south bound) on the road and will return to the dog exercise center (P2).-From here you will enter onto the cordwalk. This 1.45 mile journey is beautiful, but be very cautious of your footing. The boards are uneven, have gaps, missing sections, warped and can be slippery if wet.-You’ll exit the coardwalk back onto the beach southbound for about 0.75 miles. Soon you’ll see blue cones to exit off the beach and back to the Woodland Dunes trail. A right turn at the bench will guide you back to where it all started and your finish line.-Welcome back!!!! The course will be marked with ground utility flags, orange cones and tall 5ft flags to guide your way.
No No’s.
-NO cowbells or incessant noise makers.-NO alcohol will be provided by us.-NO disposable cups=“cupless” event. We will provide water/soda/electrolytes but you provide its vessel.•Entrants must be 16 years or older to participate. Will consider a bit younger case by case with an adult.
What to expect.
Fingers and sandy toes crossed for a beautiful day and night. There are measures to take to not get sand in your shoes. First by watching how you traverse to and from the beach, don’t drag your feet. Then advising to stay on the shoreline where the ground is the most packed down, but watch for waves!!We advise wearing shoe gators as an extra deterrent from sand finding cracks in your shoes. You will not be up to your ankles in it, or have any intentional water crossings. Please no worries about uncomfortable aggravating foot disturbances. It can cool off greatly at night, we recommend sunscreen and a long top layer to carry just in case.Sunset is estimated at 7:54, dark at 8:20 pm. Plan ahead to bring a light source if you may get caught in those time frames.Pack comfy clothes in to lounge in after if your plans are to stay for a bit.
Snick Snacks.
We’ll provide the usual running event eats, treats and drinks after. “Gluten free”, vegan and meat eater options will be available as well.Soda, juice and water will also be provided. We will have water and an electrolyte drink available on the course in the Black River section (mile 5.5ish) . This will be the only place on the course where aid is provided. Please fill up and plan for anything else you may need on your own before the run begins.
Packet Pick up
You can pick up your bib starting at 5:45pm at the indoor shelter. The closest lot to the start finish is Lot #P7.
