    2026 Spring Training

TRAINING IS FREE TO CLUB MEMBERS

PLAN TO JOIN the Tidewater Striders' New Energy Youth Running Team

New Energy is an informal youth group training together to improve their times in road races as well as their performance in track and field and cross-country events sanctioned by the USA Track and Field (USATF) and AAU. Motivations vary from those who simply enjoy running, to those who are goal-oriented and recognize the need to train in order to perform well in races. With its group approach to running practices, New Energy provides a fun, sociable forum for running preparation and development.

New Energy welcomes all youth runners, ages 5-19, regardless of ability. Practices are informal, and participants are encouraged to attend as many as possible. Runners must have a good pair of running shoes to avoid injuries. Uniforms, Warm-ups, and other gear can be purchased, but are optional. Membership in the Tidewater Striders is required by the third practice to participate in sessions and compete on a team basis in Track and Relay teams. The cost is $12.00 per year or $18.00 for two years.

Coaching is provided by volunteers who are Tidewater Striders members. Again this year, Amber Garwood will provide program leadership, while Kari and Will Tallent will provide weekly training specs. Other running enthusiasts/parents will also participate. New Energy provides youth runners and their families an enriching environment that can be a building block to the youth runner's future.

In the past, New Energy runners attended National Cross Country and Track and Field Championships around the Country. Many previous New Energy runners are currently participating with high school and college teams where they have excelled in Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track, and Field with All-State and National recognition. New Energy has produced numerous All-American medalists, State Champs, and one National Champion in Cross Country.

Welcome to our 11th Annual Offramps 5K! We're so glad you've chosen to join us to show your continued commitment to ending human trafficking.

The Offramps 5K is an annual event hosted by Freekind to raise awareness of human trafficking and funds to support our prevention and restoration programs. The name of the event refers to our work in creating "offramps to freedom" for victims of commercial sexual exploitation. Because traffickers have stolen away their freedom and manipulated them into believing that there is no other path for them, Freekind works to restore their hope, by providing practical support to give them a way out. By joining us for our annual 5K, you are part of creating offramps to freedom for survivors of human trafficking.

Race Packet-Pickup will be held the morning of race-day!

When: Saturday, April 25th from 7:30AM to 8:00AM.

    Where: Registration/Check-In Table

    ABOUT US

Freekind exists to prevent human trafficking in our communities and support survivors on their journey to freedom. We offer awareness and industry-specific training, a nationally recognized prevention education curriculum for youth, and restorative services for criminalized victims. With your help, we can protect our children and restore freedom, hope and belonging to survivors of human trafficking. Will you join us?

To find out more about Freekind and how you can get involved, please visit our website, www.freekindva.org.

All proceeds will go directly to Freekind to fund education and prevention efforts, victim services, and continuing efforts to end human trafficking.

The Noland Trail 50K & Relay gives runners the opportunity to race the ONLY event run on the beautiful Noland Trail in The Mariners’ Museum Park. The 50K will consist of 6 laps on the trail, and a short section of course before and after each trail lap. Relay teams can be made up of 2-6 team members, and take on the 6 laps together. In between laps runners can hang out together in "Tortuga" and enjoy time with one another. All runners gain access to the Mariners' Museum Fall Festival that will feature live music, craft beer & cider tastings and activities for the entire family.

The race start times are set up so that the slowest runners/teams start first (7:30AM is first wave of runners), and throughout the morning gradually faster runners/teams will start, with the fastest runners starting around 8:45-9:00AM. This helps to keep congestion down on the trail, and also makes it so that most participants are finishing around the same timeframe. Start times are determined using the mile pace submitted during registration. Team start times will be based on average pace of the team. Start times will be posted about 2 weeks prior to the run.

Just in time for Christmas, this thrilling two-loop course invites runners and walkers alike to wind through campus and the woods behind Peninsula Catholic High School, all decked out in Christmas lights and full of holiday cheer. Best of all, 100% of registration profits (after costs) will be donated to charity.

But which charity? A number of teams will be competing for a grand prize: the right to choose which charity will receive 50% of the race registration profits. No matter what, the other 50% of race profits (and donations) will go straight to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. You don't have to be a part of a team to race, walk, or donate. We encourage participants of every skill level to come out and participate, build community, and make a positive impact!

The race is hosted PCYT, a club with a mission to teach teenagers that community service and acts of kindness can be fun. To see examples of their good work like helping the police clean up a beach, packing lunches to feed the homeless, or donating a car to refugees, check out their YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@peninsulacatholicyoutube
