Event Description Get ready for a fun day of adventure, miles, and community at Evenstar Ultras at Shenandoah River State Park. This is a timed event, meaning you choose the amount of time you’d like to run and cover as much distance as you can within that block. The 3.48- mile trail loop brings you back frequently to the main aid station, so there’s no need to carry excessive gear, fuel or navigation tools. With 3-, 6-,12-, and 24- hour options, there is something for everyone, whether you’re aiming for your first 50k or taking on the challenge of 100 miles. This is a no DNF race, every distance and accomplishment is celebrated!Evenstar is a nod to the lore of Tolkein’s Middle-earth and the sense of adventure and wonder we hope to bring to our events. The name also reflects the spirit of the Shenandoah Valley, known as the “Daughter of the Stars”, a reference to the stars that reflected upon the river below, making the valley a daughter of the stars above. Course Description Evenstar Ultras
takes place on Allen’s Mountain in Shenandoah River State Park in Bentonville, VA. This 3.48-mile loop on the Allen's Mountain trail features 670 feet of elevation gain, offering plenty of climbing throughout your chosen race duration. Runners will navigate primarily single-track trail, with technical sections that include rocks, roots, and the possibility of two creek crossings. Complete as many loops as you can within your race time. What's Included You're not simply buying a race bib, this is an all day trail adventure with a fantastic community! Each runner will receive:Race entry and fully supported course access.Hoodie with our event logo.Access to our main aid station with water, electrolyte drinks, sodas, coffee, and classic ultra snacks like gummies, chips, pretzels, PB&J, and more.Cooked warm food options throughout the race duration.A finisher award if you complete at least one loop! This is a race for time, not distance, you can set your own goals!Awards will be given to the top
three women and men in each race distance/time category (3 hr, 6 hr, 12 hr, 24 hr). A special distance award will be awarded to those who complete 100 miles. Join us for the 25th annual US FreedomWalk Festival 16-18 October 2026!
The US FreedomWalk Festival® is a weekend, non-competitive, social walking challenge bringing participants of all ages and abilities together for fun, fitness, and international friendship. There are three themes to the annual event:
Fitness through walking
Learning about US history and freedoms
Making friends from all over the world
Truly a Volksmarch to remember!
The event was created in 2002 to welcome walkers from all over the world to the nation's capital city in friendship. This walking event is hosted by Arlington County, Virginia and US FreedomWalk - AVA Club 901. Arlington County has been named a Gold Level Walk Friendly Community by the Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center. The County is one of 15 communities nationwide to have received this level rating.
The walk is a three-day civil and military, noncompetitive walk for everyone. It promotes friendship and education about the United States and other countries. This is not a charity walk.
On Friday, experience Arlington Virginia hospitality with a short "Welcome Walk" on Friday afternoon. By the way, in 2022, Arlington was named one of the five Walk Friendly Platinum Communities in the U.S. along with much larger cities like San Francisco and New York City.
The Saturday trails go along National Mall, and all three branches of the federal government depending on the distance selected by the participants.
Sunday's trails Washington National Cathedral, memorials, and through Georgetown depending on the distance selected by the participants.
Start at your leisure each day during the start period and walk at your own pace. Everyone must register at the start location.
This is a family event for all ages. You choose your desired course based on your abilities and personal desires. The walk is for your health.
