The Motts 5 Miler is the second race of the FXBG Trail series. This trail race begins with a smooth, approachable start along Motts Run Reservoir — giving runners time to settle into their pace and find their rhythm before the course gradually reveals its character. The opening stretch is runnable and forgiving, setting you up for what’s to come.
From there, the course features three main climbs that define the day. Each ascent brings its own personality — steady and sustained, short and punchy, and one final grinder that tests your grit. Altogether, runners will tackle 341 feet of total elevation gain, enough to make you work without overwhelming the legs.
The descents are flowing and fun, offering opportunities to recover and carry momentum into the next section. This race strikes a perfect balance: approachable yet engaging, challenging but rewarding — a trail experience that keeps you honest while remaining accessible for a wide range of runners.

The 6.4 mile West Side Quarry is the third race in the FXBG Trail Series. Similar to the 5k, runners will start along the Beach trail next to the Rappahannock River — familiar terrain to those of you in the series.
Midway through, the course delivers its defining feature: one main climb that asks you to dig a little deeper. It’s steady and honest — enough to get your heart rate up and your legs working — but manageable with smart pacing. Crest the top, and you’re rewarded with a sense of accomplishment and a renewed stride.
The later miles roll and weave through a series of undulating hills, keeping things playful and engaging all the way to the finish. With a total elevation gain of 426 feet, this race offers a balanced challenge — approachable yet dynamic — perfect for runners who enjoy a mix of flow, focus, and just the right amount of grit.

The Motts 8 Miler is the fourth race in the FXBG Trail Series. Get ready for a course that keeps you on your toes from start to finish. This trail race winds and weaves through constant twists and turns, demanding focus and rewarding quick feet. The singletrack flows in and out of the trees, with direction changes that keep every mile engaging and unpredictable.
Rolling hills define the rhythm of the day — short ups and downs that challenge your pacing and test your leg strength without ever feeling overwhelming. Just when you think you’ve settled in, the course reminds you to stay honest with another punchy rise or sweeping descent.
There’s one standout climb that anchors the course — the big effort of the day. It’s steady, sustained, and designed to make you work. Conquer it, and you’ll carry that momentum through the final winding miles, where the rollers continue to keep things lively all the way to the finish.
This is a race for runners who love movement, momentum, and a trail that never lets you switch to autopilot.

The Quarry 10.2 miler is the fifth race in the FXBG Trail series. This race begins with a peaceful stretch along the Rappahannock River, where the Beach Trail hugs the water and the sound of the river sets the rhythm for your stride. The opening miles are smooth and scenic — a calm, steady start that invites you to settle in and enjoy the view before the course begins to build. As you move away from the river, the middle miles introduce a series of rolling hills that keep things lively. These ups and downs are playful but purposeful, testing your pacing and leg turnover while offering just enough recovery on the descents to stay strong.
Then comes the finale — one big climb that stands between you and the finish. It’s the defining challenge of the day, steady and demanding, asking for your last reserves of grit. Crest the top, and you’ll carry that hard-earned momentum toward the finish line, knowing you conquered the course from riverbank to summit.

The Motts Half Marathon is our fifth and final race in the FXBG Trail Series. This course takes runners on a full tour of the reservoir trail system, covering every corner of the winding network that surrounds the water. From the start line to the finish, you’ll experience the full character of the trails — flowing singletrack, constant twists and turns, and scenery that changes with every mile.
Rolling hills shape the rhythm of the course, keeping your legs engaged and your pacing honest. Along the way, runners will tackle five distinct climbs, totaling 946 feet of elevation gain, that add just the right amount of challenge. None are impossibly long, but together they demand steady effort and smart energy management.
The route never feels repetitive as it winds along the shoreline, through wooded sections, and across the undulating terrain that makes these trails so memorable. With a mix of climbs, flowing descents, and curving singletrack, this race is the ultimate reservoir adventure — a true showcase of the entire trail system.

In October 2025, a group of women in Fredericksburg saw a gap in their city's running scene: a space where fitness and genuine friendship could coexist. Social Stride FXBG was born from that observation, and within its first month, over 250 women joined. Founded by women in their 20s and 30s navigating careers, transitions, and personal growth, the crew operates on a simple premise: running builds community. Members span every level, from first-time mile runners to marathon trainees. The signature teal color marks the group's identity across Fredericksburg's historic streets and Rappahannock River routes. Women-only runs, themed events, and multiple pace groups (tempo, moderate, easy) mean there's always a way to show up. No membership fee, flexible scheduling, and casual post-run meetups turn miles into lasting friendships. Social Stride FXBG isn't just growing in numbers, it's become a visible fixture in how Fredericksburg's young women move through their city together.
