Located just south of the Capital Beltway in Lorton, this beautiful race course includes a mixture of forested and open meadow singletrack meandering through 1600 acres of the former prison grounds.
The race starts and ends under the old guard towers at the Workhouse Arts Center, which is the site of the former Lorton Reformatory. The course is one of our least technical and most of it is on singletrack that is a mix of dirt and crushed stone. The only short pavement sections are at the beginning and end of the race. There are no extended climbs, but lots of short ups and downs.
Race Date: Sunday October 4, 2026
Course Length: 5.4 miles (1 lap) OR 10 miles (2 laps)
Charity partnership
During registration, you will have an opportunity to support a local non-profit Homestretch. The goal of the charity partnership is to first and foremost to raise awareness of the services Homestretch provides to families in our area. In addition, we hope to raise funds that will directly support their efforts. Please consider making a donation when you register.

"The perfect mix of thinking and movement!" - Past Participant
"One of the FUNNEST things I have ever done with my family" - Past Participant
Make a team or go solo as
the temperatures start cooling off and the leaves start falling and changing color during our Fall Foliage Adventure Race in and around the stunningly beautiful and historic Jamestown Virginia where the site of the first permanent English settlement in North America. If you love being outdoors, then this is the event for you.
5-hour Race: Our 5-hour fall race is perfect for new/beginner racers or those who just don't want to go all day. We will have biking, canoe/kayak paddling and trekking with plenty of route options taking you through amazing areas of history and scenery. As usual this race will start alongside our bigger race and and consist of some smaller parts from that course. The biking in this course will be very beginner friendly, a mix of gravel and paved surfaces.
24-hour Race: This year we're taking our more seasoned racers for a full 24-hours of adventure! It will consist of multiple parks, going into the night and through to the morning again as you make your way through several conservancies and historical sites with plenty paddling, trekking and biking. If you are new to 24-hour racing, this is going to be a great course to give your first try at 24-hours due to the region not having any crazy elevation/climbs in it, and for our veterans who want to clear it all, don't worry there will be a whole lot of amazing outdoors to explore.
New to adventure racing? What is an adventure race? Simply put, Adventure Racing (AR) is orienteering (navigating with a map and compass) but via multiple modes of travel. Unlike your average 10K/5K, marathon or obstacle course race where there is a strict roped off race course to follow; with orienteering/AR you are given a map with marked checkpoints (CPs), and its up to you/your team to decide & navigate which route you think is most optimal and find as many checkpoints as you can within a time limit. The best teams will work together and help each other to not only go fast, but also efficiently, acquiring the most checkpoints wins (fastest time as tie-breaker).
Spectators are welcome to watch, hang out, take pictures, fish or just picnic in the park during this event but are NOT allowed to assist participants. This is a USARA-sanctioned race.

Hosted at Pleasants Landing Marina at Lake Anna, this race and venue are amazing. The time trial swim takes place in the southeast portion of Lake Anna, about 1/4 mile from where the “hot side” of
Lake Anna empties into the cold side, resulting in water temperatures that are 4-6 degree’s warmer than the rest of the lake at this time of year. So, you can look forward to above average water temperatures in mid-October. The last open water race of the regular season Olympic starts at 9AM and the Sprint starts at 9:30AM, so you can sleep in a little and make it a day at the lake with family and friends. The race site and finish line are surrounded by water and have a view of the Blue Ridge Mountains to the West; it’s a great place to spend the weekend outside. Watch the race video and register below!

Come join us for the Bernard Greene Memorial 5K! The race starts at 9:30 am on October 11, 2025 at Deep Run Park. Registration is $35 per person and all proceeds benefit the alumni and current
participants of Henrico County Recovery Court for sober activities, graduation celebrations, and family days. A t-shirt is included with each registration. This event is named after our previous Administrator, Bernard L. Greene, Jr. who passed away on March 7, 2019. Mr. Greene joined the then "drug court" team as a Clinician in 2008 and was promoted to Administrator in April of 2017. In his short 48 years of life, Mr. Greene touched the hearts of many people and helped others change their lives for the better. He led by example and did so with a smile, always. One well known aspect of his life was that he loved to be active and push his body to its limits. He enjoyed running, cycling, and spending time outdoors. We couldn't think of a better way to continue to support his legacy, one that he has
already cemented years before now, by naming our annual 5K event after him. An event based on physical engagement that benefits those challenged by addiction is right up his alley! We will be forever indebted to him for all he has done for our community. Henrico County Recovery Court has been in operation since 2003 and is dedicated to enhancing public safety through assessments and community supervision guided by best practices. Our goal is to reduce crime and recidivism through timely intervention and comprehensive treatment of substance abusing offenders. Please support our efforts to promote community engagement and fellowship while raising funds to support our participants and alumni. There will be a bounce house, raffles, music, and more!!
