The RVA Mile (aka Regency Mile), along with the 5 & Under 400m Express Run, has held the record for the largest timed youth road race in Richmond for 15 years! With both in-person and virtual race options, an adult race, condensed start times, and a fall festival, this event provides a family-friendly day of racing.

The course is entirely closed to traffic and encircles Regency Square Mall. This year, we have a kid’s mile, parent’s mile, and a 400m race for ages 5 & under. After the race, make sure to stick around and enjoy our Fall Festival complete with candy, games, activities from our sponsors, and more!

The races are organized into a series of heats (or waves) based on age and gender to keep each race competitive and fun for everyone. When you register, you’ll automatically be assigned to the correct heat for your age group.

Each heat has a specific start time, and it’s important to run in the heat you’re assigned to as we cannot guarantee an accurate time or award if you do not run in your assigned heat / wave.

There’s also an Elite Wave that kicks off the event, using an “equalizer” format—women start first, followed shortly by men—and the first person across the finish line wins the top prize.

You can view the full heat schedule and start times here.

Be sure to register on or before 10/16 to be guaranteed a race t-shirt!

As part of the RVA Mile, cash awards are given to area schools to help with their Physical Education programs, and each year, the competition is fierce! Learn more here!
