Race day is October 11th when the leaves are turning and the apple cider’s flowing! This lumberjack-themed run will have you trading your usual race tee for your finest plaid shirt. Whether you're rocking suspenders, beanies, or just a solid beard, we want to see your best forest fashion as you race with us through an autumn-filled course.

And the best part? After you cross the finish line, you’ll be rewarded with the ultimate fall feast — fresh apple cider, coffee, and delicious donuts, served up with a side of hearty high-fives and your finisher's medal!

Sharpen your axes (or your wit), lace up your boots (er, running shoes), and join us for a race that’s Plaid to the Bone! Costumes encouraged, flannel required, and fun guaranteed.

This trail race begins with a smooth, approachable start along Motts Run Reservoir — giving runners time to settle into their pace and find their rhythm before the course gradually reveals its character. The opening stretch is runnable and forgiving, setting you up for what’s to come.

    From there, the course features three main climbs that define the day. Each ascent brings its own personality — steady and sustained, short and punchy, and one final grinder that tests your grit. Altogether, runners will tackle 341 feet of total elevation gain, enough to make you work without overwhelming the legs.

    The descents are flowing and fun, offering opportunities to recover and carry momentum into the next section. This race strikes a perfect balance: approachable yet engaging, challenging but rewarding — a trail experience that keeps you honest while remaining accessible for a wide range of runners.

    The purpose of the Fathers and Families race event is to promote the vital role fathers play as a stabilizing presence in the home and community. Hosted by A Father’s Legacy, Inc., the Second Annual Fathers and Families Fun Walk/Run raises awareness and support for programs that empower both young and mature fathers to build strong families and thriving communities.

    The race will be held at the beautiful Pratt Park 120 River Rd, Fredericksburg. This paved and gravel course winds its way along the back side of the YMCA. We will have music on site, a photographer, an award ceremony, and refreshments after the completion of the race at Pratt Park.

    Registration Fee Includes:

    • Official T-Shirt (t-shirts and t-shirt sizes are not guaranteed after 5/22/26)
