-
It's been a while since we’ve given our trainees a shirt, so this year we're giving all trainees a DCRR Training long-sleeved technical shirt. We will order men’s and women’s sizes.
-
Registration is open to non-members! As part of registration, non-members will receive a DC Road Runners membership through November 30, 2026. Note: if you qualify for the student or family membership, it may be cheaper to join DCRR, and then to register under the member rate.
-
Time Trials! We heard great feedback about our time trials from last training program, so we're keeping them in our program.
-
Seminars. Our past seminars have been very popular, so we'll have at least two seminars for our spring program.
-
Winter Challenge! Throughout December through the start of training, we’ll be offering a Winter Challenge to encourage you to get in your miles. Complete the challenge, and you’ll be entered to win excellent prizes.
Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Programs
We will be offering beginner, intermediate, and advanced programs. The difference between the programs is not based on pace but rather overall miles per week. Trainees may move between the programs. Signing up for a specific program gives your coaches an idea of your current fitness level.
Beginner Program-first long run 3 miles
The beginner program is designed as a “to finish” program. This program is designed for runners either new to running or who are coming back to running after a hiatus. Trainees should be able to run 10 miles per week prior to starting the program. This program focuses on building overall mileage and introduces strength and endurance workouts after trainees have built a sufficient base to do quality workouts.
Intermediate and Advanced Programs-first long run 6-8 miles
The intermediate and advanced programs are designed for seasoned runners who are looking to improve their pace. These programs will emphasize the importance of establishing higher overall training miles in conjunction with completing regular speed workouts. To that end, runners should come into each program comfortable running the following mileage:
Intermediate minimums: 6 mile long run and 18-20 miles per week
Advanced minimums: 8 mile long run and 22-24 miles per week
The intermediate and advanced programs will begin quality workouts early with an eventual progression to track workouts. Trainees should expect a greater focus on pacing in runs, more rigorous workouts, and the incorporation of pace practice during long runs.
Where do we meet on Saturdays?
Saturday group runs will meet at 8:00 a.m. at North Meade Street Park, which is across the street from the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial in Rosslyn, Virginia. (Note: we meet promptly at 8 a.m. for general club announcements and a description of the route for the day. The training program then usually hangs back for a few minutes to allow for tips from the coaches and for trainees to pair up with pacers.)
Registration is open to participants 18 years of age and older as of the start of the program.
Weather Policy: Safety is our number one priority. A race, training run, or other event may be canceled, delayed, suspended or postponed, or the course may be modified in the event of threatening weather conditions that could make the run unsafe for participants. Such threatening weather conditions may include: lightning, heavy rains, wind / tornadoes, extreme heat, ice / snow, or other major weather conditions. Extreme heat is defined as a heat index that meets or exceeds 105 °F at the time of the event or run. Lightning strikes within one mile of the planned course are considered threatening. It is up to the race director or run leader to determine whether the conditions are threatening and communicate any decision to alter the event or run to participants.

Details:
-
Tuesdays at 5:20pm.
-
Meeting at Washington-Liberty High School track. All sessions will involve a warm-up run - either around the school grounds or on the track - followed by a series of laps and/or practice races (50-100m sprints, 200m, 400m). Each child can pick which race(s) they want to participate in each week! We'll have them work on improving their performance over the course of the program.
-
Starting January 27th and wrapping up on March 3rd.
-
Appropriate for kids of all ages, though parents should expect to participate (at no cost) with younger children.
-

-
All kids will receive a medal and trophy at the end of the program - help your kids work toward that goal!
**Because we are running in winter conditions, Coach Kate may opt to shift meet-up days within the same week IF the conditions for Tuesday are too frigid/snowy and another day of the week is significantly better. She will communicate such decisions ASAP to all participants.

Run for the hill of it!
Come kick off St. Patrick's Day and celebrate Ireland’s Four Court's 30th Anniversary. It may only be four miles, but the Four Courts Four Miler will test your mettle. The race starts at Ireland's Four Courts in Arlington, VA. Runners will run down the Wilson Boulevard hill, turn around, and run back up the hill to finish at Four Courts where you'll start your St. Patrick's Day celebration in style and be rewarded with a tasty beverage. As the Irish saying goes, "May the road rise up to meet you." This course takes that quite literally.
Can you beat the leprechaun? The hill is not the only challenge you'll face! You get a 10 minute head start, and then we unleash the leprechaun. Will he catch you running up the hill? If you finish before the leprechaun you might be rewarded at the finish with a "pot of gold" or perhaps a small prize to celebrate your achievement.
Registration includes a race t-shirt and a free post-race beverage provided by Four Courts. Register by March 1, 2026 to guarantee your t-shirt. After March 1, t-shirts will be provided based on availability.
Race starts at 9:00 a.m. sharp on March 14. The start line closes at 9:10 a.m. Runners will have until 10:15 a.m. to complete the course.
Note: Strollers and pets are not allowed on the race course.

For decades, Anne Viviani was not only Arlington’s most highly accomplished triathlete but one of the best in the world, winning multiple national and world titles. She represented the U.S. in 37 world championships and three times won the long-course world championship. She won multiple triathlon, duathlon, and aquathlon medals and nine national championships in triathlon and duathlon. Anne died tragically on April 9, 2018, while driving home from the USA National Duathlon Championship race in South Carolina with Donn. A deer struck their vehicle, killing her instantly. Anne and Donn had four children, Anne, Donn, Will, and Tony, and many grandchildren, some of whom may be in attendance at our race.

Tour the September 11th National Memorial Trail with the Alliance – Commemorating 25 Years of Remembrance!
The Alliance is honored to announce that the 2026 9/11 National Memorial Trail Bike Tour is scheduled to take place from June 12 to July 11, 2026, in observance of the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. This historic journey offers a powerful opportunity to reflect on a quarter century of remembrance and American resilience.
This meaningful journey will cover a distance of 1,200 miles over 27 days, traversing scenic landscapes and paying tribute to the memory of those affected by the events of September 11, 2001. Commencing in Arlington, Virginia, at the Pentagon Memorial on June 5, the tour will take cyclists clockwise following the 9/11 National Memorial Trail route, connecting the three memorial sites, before ultimately ending back in Arlington, Virginia, on July 11.
The 2026 tour will also span July 4, coinciding with America’s 250th birthday, adding a profound layer of reflection on the nation’s history and resilience forged over centuries and reaffirmed in the aftermath of September 11, as cyclists pass through historic places such as Valley Forge, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C, and more.
As we mark 25 years since 9/11, this commemorative Bike Tour stands as a living tribute—connecting past and present, honoring heroes' sacrifices, and reaffirming the importance of preserving the Trail for future generations.
An itinerary for the 27-day, 1,200-mile tour, including daily mileage breakdowns, is available at the link below:

When Alex Manfull died, at 26 years old, due to a neuroimmune disorder known as PANDAS, Susan and William Manfull established a Fund in their daughter’s name with the vision that no life ever again be cut short — or interrupted — by PANDAS/PANS. The Alex Manfull Fund is proud to have provided the funding to establish a repository at Georgetown University Medical Center for brains from donors diagnosed with neuroimmune disorders which, in January 2022, became the POND Brain Bank — PANDAS/PANS and Other Neuroimmune Disorders Brain Bank. We collaborate with other advocacy groups to increase awareness and advance education for physicians and mental health professionals about how to recognize and treat these disorders. If only one of Alex’s doctors had recognized PANDAS, Alex would be here today. Originally from New Hampshire, Alex died in Washington, DC in 2018. She loved to run along the Potomac so we know this race would be very meaningful to her.
