To honor those who have died by suicide and those who are forever affected by suicide, the 3rd annual Poppy's Run For Life will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026.

All proceeds from the row will be donated to the suicide prevention and awareness programs and services at Alexander JFS and the Montrose Center.

Poppy’s Run for Life is recognized as a 501(c) 3 charity by the IRS.

Caryn Honig is the founder and director of Poppy's Run For Life. Caryn's father and grandfather both died by suicide, forever changing her life as well as the lives of family, friends and loved ones. They are not alone. Suicide is on the rise and is a leading cause of death in the US with 45,979 deaths in 2020. This is about one death every 11 minutes. The number of people who attempt or think about suicide is even higher. Suicide affects the health and well-being of surviving family, friends, co-workers, loved ones and the community.

Please join in supporting the efforts to increase prevention, education and awareness so that those suffering with a mental illness will seek help.

As I have intentionally journeyed with Christ the last few years I have found myself loving myself more because of the way He first loves me. Loving yourself for me has turned into a passion for the things of my creator Christ Jesus. I am living proof that He restores and makes all things new in our lives IF we let him. Pillow's Joyful Journey 5K shows just how this walk with Christ is. We start off Joyful in our salvation and along the journey to the finish line we go through moments of uncertainty and wanting to quit and many other negative experiences yet, He takes joy in those moments. The joy of The Lord has formed to be my strength. This has pushed me to run towards him and finish the race He sets before me. That is what has ignited my passion in stewarding my temple and what has transcended into a passion for running to flourish and pour over into the Iives of others. Pillows Joyful Journey 5K was placed on my heart to encourage and remind those wherever they are in life to count it

all joy because it is a journey but you must choose for it to be a joyful one and continue to run towards God with endurance!

Welcome to the Houston Roast Run & Comedy Show, where endurance meets embarrassment and punchlines come with a side of lactic acid.

This one-of-a-kind event features a 5K(ish) on the scenic Buffalo Bayou Trails… but with a twist. Along the course, you’ll be heckled (err, motivated) by professional comedians stationed throughout the route, armed with microphones and zero chill. They’ll be roasting your stride, your outfit, and probably your life choices, all in good fun. (Mostly.)

After you've limped through the finish line and rebuilt your ego, stick around for a post-race comedy show featuring three of Houston’s top comedians. Prefer to skip the cardio and go straight to the comedy? You can do that too—comedy show-only tickets are available.

Get funky, get creative and show us your artistic talent as we party and revel in the art of running and drinking the best in Texas craft beer!

Race registration includes a sweet, gender specific dry fit style shirt, an Art Car IPA 5K finisher medal, finisher pint glass and your choice of three Saint Arnold beverages to fill it!

Don’t want to run or walk and just want to party? Yeah, that’s cool too…and we’ve got you covered with the Beer & Party Pass option! With this you get the finisher pint glass and three Saint Arnold beverages to fill it and the ability to join the party!

Saint Arnold’s Art Car IPA beer debuted in August 2015 and was inspired by a fleet of hand painted Art Cars which were created by local artists for the brewery and the label artwork was designed by renowned Houston graffiti artist GONZO247, who has painted four Saint Arnold Art Cars. All proceeds from this inspiring event will benefit The Outdoor Disabled Veterans Program (The ODV), through Knowledge Point Network. This is more than just a race—it’s an opportunity to honor and support disabled veterans by helping them reconnect with the healing power of nature in a community that understands their struggles.

Veterans with physical injuries and those with invisible wounds of war come together through KPN to find healing, support, and camaraderie. The ODV’s programs center around outdoor adventures and therapeutic activities, empowering veterans to overcome challenges and rediscover their independence.

Whether you’re running, walking, or cheering from the sidelines, your participation will directly contribute to a cause that changes lives. Together, we can give back to those who’ve given so much for our freedom.

These serene trails, set apart from the busier sections of the park, offer a peaceful atmosphere for the event. Operation Ruck the Bayou will be hosted on Saturday, May 16th, 2026 at Saint Arnold Brewery in Houston, TX. This event will support The Joshua Chamberlain Society's Houston Chapter.

The Joshua Chamberlain Society (“JCS”) is a grass roots, 501(c)(3) federally tax exempt charity that was formed with the mission of providing long term support to veterans from local areas that have sustained permanent combat injuries fighting the long war on terror for our nation. It also provides long term support to the children of local veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice in our service.

Founded in St. Louis, Missouri it has now expanded into additional chapters serving the Nashville, Tennessee and Houston, Texas areas. Each chapter runs independently so donors know their contributions stay with their local JCS Heroes.

When American service members are severely wounded in combat, their lives are changed forever. And when our service members make the ultimate sacrifice, their families need support and security.

With the help of generous donors and fundraising events, we help severely wounded veterans live full, vibrant lives despite their injuries, and we make sure the families of the fallen are provided with support and security for the future.

Get ready to start your day with the eighth annual Close the Loop 5K!

Join us in Houston, Texas on Friday, Oct. 16 at 7 a.m. CST, as we embark on a morning run/walk during PSTM26. Lace-up your sneakers and join plastic surgeons, patients, office staff, and supporters from across the globe as we come together to raise awareness and funds for breast reconstruction, charitable care and groundbreaking research.

Registration for the Close the Loop 5K will open on May 20, 2026.

As the sun rises, the excitement begins! Starting at 7 a.m., the #BRA5K will take place. Whether you're running, walking, or cheering from the sidelines, your participation fuels the Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Campaign of The Plastic Surgery Foundation (PSF), empowering us to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.

Breast cancer is a devastating disease, affecting approximately 1 in 8 women in the United States. Breast reconstruction is a very personal choice — every woman should have access to her options before she has to make a decision. Profits generated are awarded to organizations focused on awareness and assistance efforts of women fighting breast cancer or pursuing breast reconstructive surgery. Thanks to YOU, The Plastic Surgery Foundation's BRA Program has allocated 188 grants, totaling over $2 million in awards.

Mark your calendars, gather your gear, and join us for an unforgettable morning. See you at this year’s race!

    Run, Walk, Cheer or Donate!

Whether you're running, walking, cheering from the sidelines (or the couch!), or donating, your support is invaluable! Join us for our 5K for Breast Reconstruction Awareness and help us empower individuals impacted by breast cancer to reclaim their bodies and their lives after breast cancer. Register as an individual, join a team (no limit on team size!), or become a team captain.

Not a runner? No problem! Every donation, big or small, makes a difference.

Support our cause today and help us spread awareness, one step (or dollar!) at a time!

Help Us Close The Loop: Refer Friends & Earn a Refund!

Want to make an even bigger impact at the Close The Loop 5k for Breast Reconstruction Awareness? It's simple: invite your friends, family, and colleagues to join you!

This year, we're excited to offer referral rewards! Share your unique referral code, and when five people register using your code, you'll receive a $40 refund on your registration fee! That's right, running for a cause can actually save you money!

Help us spread awareness, build an even stronger community, and reach our fundraising goals. The more, the merrier (and the more funds raised for Breast Reconstruction Awareness)!

Share your referral code today and let's Close The Loop together!

UPDATE: At this year’s event, runners will be required to wait until the light changes to cross the intersection with Poydras St. Staff and volunteers will be course markers. This race is being treated as a fun run, and there are no street closures.
