This Walk is in memory of Joseph P. McDonald, Esq. "JoJo" of RockyHill, CT, formerly of North Providence, RI who passed away on September 14, 2016. He was 36 years old. Joe graduated from The University of Connecticut(2001). He received his law degree from Roger Williams University School of Law (2004) and founded McDonald Law Associates (2006). Joe built his law practice over the last 10 years in New Britain, Connecticut. He was highly successful, which he attributed to very hard work, preparation, personality and appreciating the people who worked for him. Work was not the only factor that made him the widely and deeply loved person he was. He enjoyed life to the fullest; he is described by family, friends and colleagues as being positive, charismatic, funny, energetic, extremely loyal and loving. Family meant everything to him and he never met a person he didn't consider a friend. The extent of his kindness and generosity toward people was overwhelming. When Joe discovered, whether friend or
family was in need; he would step up to the plate immediately even if they never asked. He received great joy in giving and helping people. Joe recognized that God had blessed him abundantly and wanted to share his prosperity with others who were not as fortunate. Joe's passion was practicing law and he was outstanding in his career. The legal community has lost a great attorney and the rest of the world has lost a great man.

health awareness and supporting vital mental health initiatives. This impactful event will take place on Sunday, September 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Shepherd Hill Regional High School.
Why We Run/Walk
Tackle The Stigma was created to raise both funds and awareness for mental health support services. Every step taken helps break down barriers, encourage open conversations, and ensure individuals struggling with mental health challenges can access the support they need without fear or stigma.

The day features a 5K walk/run for people and dogs of all ages! Costumes encouraged but not
required. Best dressed pup will get a prize!
There will be plenty of family fun at the health & fitness fair. Enjoy music, vendors, food, beer, doggy demonstrations, and more. Best of all, this day is for charity! Proceeds from the event will benefit the animal welfare programs of the MVMA Charities and Travis Fund, the chosen charity of Tufts SAVMA, to help care for animals in need.
This year, we're offering a VIRTUAL option for those who can't make it on October 25! Walk or run the 5K alone or with your pet. Take this opportunity to run/walk with ANY of your pets - cat, pig, goat, bird, or any other pet you call your bestie! Virtual participants will also receive the commemorative race t-shirt if registered by the October 1 deadline. Submit a picture of you with your pet and we'll feature you in a social media shout-out.
Raise at least $100 for charity or refer at least 5 friends (who sign up) and your registration fee will be refunded!
Register by October 1, 2026 to guarantee a complimentary race t-shirt!
