Through its engagement with local families and youth, Downingtown Rugby Football Club helps expand the fastest-growing sport in the USA.
The Downingtown Rugby Football Club was founded in 1996 to attract student-athletes to the team-oriented environment, sportsmanship focus, and excitement of play that rugby has to offer. Participants and their families will find a welcoming, supportive culture that serves not simply to improve rugby skills but also to strengthen youths’ sense of self, discipline, and drive.
From its inception, the club has been coached and managed by an all-volunteer group of parents, former players, and rugby enthusiasts. In doing this, we keep the cost as low as possible so all kids, regardless of socioeconomic background, can experience this incredible sport. The BEER & BAGEL OFF-ROAD RACE SERIES is coming back to Yeager’s Farm & Market in Phoenixville, PA. with a new twist. For 2026, we are introducing two new events making this a 2-day race weekend. In addition to our traditional 4-mile(ish) run on Sunday (11/8/26), we are creating a 10-mile(ish) off-road run for preceding Saturday (11/7/26). You can do either day as a separate event OR do them both and receive the coveted Squatchy Challenge Finisher's Medal.
This is a favorite event for runners throughout the area, who come each year for a challenging trail run, great swag, and good clean fun. Of course, there is always plenty of free bagels and beer. And everybody loves the shirt – a long-sleeve tech shirt with the statement “I’m a Drinker with a Running Problem” on the back.
The BEER & BAGEL OFF-ROAD RACE SERIES started more than twenty-five years ago in the Heartland of America, where every fall, thousands of runners, beer drinkers, and bagel enthusiasts gather in Lincoln, Nebraska to enjoy a 4ish-mile off-road run, free beer, bagels and home cookin' just like mom used to make. Today, the series has spread to multiple states, but every effort is made to keep it local and home-grown. Here, the event is supported by the Yeager family, Barrister's Bagel Bakery and Slyfox Brewing.
