Lodestar Park, Newton, NJ
Our 25th year of Xtreme!
X-Treme Youth Running Camp has earned an excellent reputation as one of the
region's premier youth running camps. In its 25th year, the Camp is held at bucolic Lodestar Park which offers a host of varying terrains making it the perfect venue to prepare middle and high school kids for their upcoming cross-country season or condition them for whatever fall sport they do!
The Camp runs from Monday, July 27th through Friday, July 31st from 9 am to noon each day of the week and features fantastic motivational guest speakers as well as endurance and speed preparation.
The X-Treme Running Camp experience is something fantastic and unique. The Camp takes full advantage of Lodestar Park's superb training venues. The Camp caters to middle and high school runners, but younger kids with a love of the sport often also attend. We welcome runners of all abilities as well as athletes involved in other sports looking to improve their endurance, speed and overall fitness. Each day includes an endurance session, a speed session (in each, kids are grouped according to their ability) plus a highly acclaimed guest speaker. Our Camp is directed by elite distance running husband and wife team Guy & Laurie Gordon, and all counselors are seasoned adult runners. We motivate with goal-setting, visualization, form analysis, injury prevention, overall core and body strength building, racing techniques and the power to believe in yourself and reach your full potential.

About The Lucarelli & Castaldi Cup
This race is Round 7 of the 2026 Lucarelli & Castaldi Cup. The Lucarelli & Castaldi Cup links the Kissena Cycling Club Prospect Park Series into an overall
competition with Verge leader kits and overall prizes awarded to the winners of the Category 1-2-3 and Category 3-4 events. There are also separate Sprint, KOM, and Best Master 45+ competitions in the Category 1-2-3 and Category 3-4 races. The Women Open will compete in the Women's PP Series Presented by Verge for overall, sprint and QOM series standings. There will be a Women's Cat 4 series scored from the women open, sponsored by Lucarelli & Castaldi. There are no overall competitions in the Category 5 event.
Click here for detailed information on how points are scored for each competition, prizes, and Frequently Asked Questions.
Timing Chips
For 2026 all Prospect Park and Floyd Bennett Field races will be timed using active timing chips(Except for Cat 5 races). The chips will allow us to provide faster, live results along with lap time reports, KOM and Sprint results, updated series standings and other features to be added at later dates. You must have a timing chip to be scored in the KOM/QOM or Sprint competitions and to receive podiums/prizes on race day. If you aren't using a chip we will send in your result to USA Cycling for rankings but you will not be eligible for a daily prize.
All riders in the Cat 1-2-3, Women Open and Cat 3-4 will need to have a timing chip to race. Riders in the Cat 5 race will NOT need a chip. Timing chips are available to purchase along with your registration as a merchandise item. If you are a CRCA member and already have a chip you DO NOT need to buy a chip. If you have a chip for the NJ TT or CX series, you DO NOT need to buy a chip. If you purchased a chip in 2022, 2023 or 2024 please continue using it.
The chips are guaranteed to work for a minimum of 5 years and can be used in multiple different series. Currently, the chips will work for CRCA races, both Prospect Series, FBF Tues nights, NJ TT Series and NJ CX series. More races and series will be added shortly.
The chip cost is $75 and you will own and be responsible for your chip. If you decide at any time that you do not want to participate in either of the Prospect series you can return the chip for a pro-rated refund. You will receive a refund equal to your original purchase price minus a rental fee of $5 per race you have entered. For example, if you have entered 4 races you would receive a $55 refund($75-$20). Only riders who purchased a chip for the FBF or PP series are eligible for this refund program.
If you are visiting from out of town and plan on racing at a park event, please contact me and we can arrange a one time chip rental or make other accommodations for your results. You do not need to purchase a chip if you are only racing once.

What is a Tunnel to Towers Climb?
The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run/Walk & Climb Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of StephenSiller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life
on September 11, 2001 after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. We honor all of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and support our first responders and military who make extraordinary sacrifices in the line of duty! For more information on the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, please visit t2t.org.
How much of the stadium do I have to climb?
You will be following the aisles through the stadium seating, starting in Section 1 and climbing up, down and around to the other side of the stadium at least 5 times (Approx. 2,200 ft of “track”). Click on the link below for an overview of the stadium. Volunteers will be guiding the Climbers.
Patriot Stadium Seating Chart
Do I have to climb all the way to the top floor in order to participate in the T2T Tower Climb?
No, this is a challenge by choice event and we are just glad you can join us.
How many bailout locations are there?
There will be several opportunities to bail out at the top of each aisle. Water stations will be available and the start and end points each round, with concessions open in the middle.
Will there be medical assistance if necessary?
There will be medics on the premises in the event of an emergency.
How long does the T2T Tower Climb take?
This depends on how many steps you climb, and on your fitness level, speed and amount of time spent at rest areas. Some of our fastest climbers finish in about 45 minutes but please climb at your own pace.
Is this a timed climb?
Yes, we will have a timing company on site this year to time our climbers.
Can climbers stop on a landing to catch their breath?
Yes, but please try to stop at the top of the aisles in the concourse where there is more room for other climbers to continue around you. Slower climbers should move to the right, allowing faster climbers to pass on the left.
I might get tired and be unable to finish, what should I do?
No problem, this is a challenge by choice event. If you are in need of medical assistance, please ask a volunteer for help.
I want to participate, but I'm not sure if stairs are for me. Can I still participate?
Yes! Participants who do not wish to climb stairs are welcome to walk at one of the designated areas of the stadium as a way of participating as well. The concourse is wheelchair accessible as well.
I’m a first responder; can I wear my bunker/turnout gear, scott packs, etc.?
Yes, you may wear turnout gear. In fact, we encourage it!
Can I bring my cell phone?
Yes!
When can I pick up my registration packet (bib and T-shirt)?
Packet pick up will be available starting Thursday, July 30th - Friday, July 31st from 1:00 - 7:00 pm. Saturday (event day) pickup begins at 6:00 am until 7:45 AM.

Queens is all about diversity. It’s NYC’s second most populous borough with 2.3 M people living in a community with the highest rate of racial and ethnic variety of all populous counties in the
nation. So, there is no better way to start and finish a race in Queens, NYC than through Flushing Meadows Park. You’ll run past the Unisphere on a relatively lat and fast course with two small uphill sections when you cross an overpass. The views from the overpass are so beautiful that you’ll hardly notice.
