Welcome to Raid Lamoille, a premier gravel grinder event. Details can be found on the ride web site (raidlamoille.com) but we can tell you this – the long route will be around 55 miles, mostly gravel and will include a significant amount of climbing. Yeah, it’s hard. Not up for that? We do offer a sweet 25-mile option!
You can find route profiles on the ride's web page.
Mostly self-supported along the way, riders are treated to a delicious lunch and cold beer at the finish.
YOU MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE TO REGISTER FOR THIS RIDE
Raid – Our definition? A raid is a challenging route that includes a significant amount of packed-gravel riding and some major climbing segments. Some would call it a dirt road randonee, others a gravel grinder, we just call it a Raid. This is not a race. A properly prepared rider and bike of most any type can do this. Our guarantee – you will finish tired but feeling accomplished. It’s probably not for everybody, but you’re not everybody, right?
Navigation - all routes will be judiciously marked with turn arrows. In prior years we marked all intersections with arrows (and plan to again) but town permitting requirements and sign vandalism may compromise their effectiveness . We also provide downloadable files for your GPS and will have printed cue sheets available.
For more information about the ride visit raidlamoille.com
2026 - 13th Annual Race
This race is in memory of Matthew Rairdon, whose life was tragically taken in November 2013. When preparing to go to college, Matt was extremely appreciative to receive a scholarship to attend St. Joseph's College. The intent of this scholarship fund is to help other people who want to pursue a nursing education at St. Joseph's. The first scholarship was awarded in the fall of 2014, and now we award 2 scholarships annually.
Here are the details for this year's race:
Packet Pickup will be done over 2 evenings, from 4-6 pm on Thursday, July 16th and Friday, July 17th at BreaLu, 511 Main Street in Westbrook.
We have a water station on the course route.
We will have an awards ceremony in the park after the race.
"Matt's Mile" is a short fun run for children, located in the park. The race is for children age 10 and under and will be split into 2 heats: first 1-5 year olds, and then 6-10 year olds. If you want a t-shirt that is smaller than a Youth Small, please email us at [email protected] with your request. Make sure to write Matt's Mile T-Shirt Request in the Re: line.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome on the course every year. We will have Westbrook Strong Dog Bandanas available for sale at packet pick up and in the park during race day. They are $5 each. You can pay with Venmo or cash.
This year's charitable gift recipient will be Safe Voices. Safe Voices currently operates the only shelter and support services for victims of domestic violence and sex trafficking and exploitation in Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford counties. If you want more information on them, please go to their website: www.safevoices.org
Thank you for 13 years of support - the Rairdon Family very much appreciates it. Westbrook Strong!
2026 will mark the 59th running of this summer classic honoring coach Bill Luti who founded what was then the Concord 5 Miler in 1968. The Bike Hub is proud to announce our Sunday Epic ride series! These are all-day rides featuring some of the best mixed-terrain riding the tri-state area has to offer. Forgotten woods roads, fast gravel, rugged singletrack, and even a bit of hike-a-bike. These rides will be long, difficult, and absolutely beautiful. While there is no perfect bike for a Sunday Epic, anything with around a 2 inch tire will work. More details on terrain will be included in each event post. Sunday Epic's will be held the third Sunday of every month from April-October. Start location may vary, but will usually end will some sort of food and drink situation. Wheels down at 8am always.
This one is an extra-special Epic in partnership with our friends at Wicked Waystation. Wicked Waystation is a hiker and bikepacker-centric hostel in West Wardsboro, that has generously offered to host this event. Thais and Thom are excellent folks and pillars of the local hiking and biking community. Stick around after the ride for refreshments and a cookout!
This route will take us deep into Green Mountain National Forest on the infamous Bailey Road, after which we'll get taste of the VT Super 8 for a few brutal miles. Then some fast gravel to carry us home. Best for a gravel bike with 2 inch tires or wider, or a hardtail mtb.
A few notes on the nitty-gritty of these rides.
Sunday Epic's are fully self supported. Bring everything you need to successfully finish the route. We expect you to carry basics like spare tube, pump, multi-tool, patch kit, food and water, etc. Although we occasionally stop at a convenience store, there are many times where the ride is too remote for that to be an option.
We generally try to ride together, but you are welcome to do your own thing as long as you have the route. Group pace usually hovers somewhere around the 10mph average mark, but may be slower depending on terrain/climbing.
Expect this to take a good chunk of the day. Occasional stops for snacks etc. We move pretty continuously, but also aren't in a rush.
RideWithGPS link here.
Note that we don't charge anything for these rides, but we do welcome donations! We are a community-based 501c3 nonprofit focused on removing barriers to cycling for all within the tri-state area. We provide education, free access to bikes and cycling accessories, and provide a place for people of all ages and abilities to connect through cycling. Livermore N.H.
A turn of the century rough and tumble logging camp that grew into a town. The pioneering spirit of those hearty individuals inspires this back country adventure!
https://www.bartletthistory.net/livermoreintroduction
Hey all you gravel monsters out there, we heard you! This year's challenge includes a gravel route that shares the same start and finish. Some of the route will be the same as the MTB route and some will be a challenge of its own. This isn't a gravel spin, this is a gnarly grinder so pull up your panties if you're up to the challenge.
MTB or Gravel?
We heard you, you gravel monsters!
The Gravelmore Challenge is here, full or half send, either way it's gonna' hurt! Chunky, funky, an all of the above gravel challenge, are you up to it?
Course Details
Race, Ride, Adventure, Hardo or Party Pace, it's your call!
Get ready for a true backcountry mix of gravel, singletrack and a little paved spinning. You'll start with a casual gravel climb by the Sawyer River, passing by the remnants of the historic Livermore logging camp and settlement. This leads to the old RR bed taking you over the height of land into the Rob Brook area next to the Swift river. Now we get into some singletrack for a bit before some more gravel heading toward Bear Notch rd. aid station. Classic old school singletrack brings you to the Albany covered bridge. This is the half way point and finish for the Half Send. If you're going Full Send, there's a good recovery spin on some pavement before you enter the West Side trails in the lower moats. Spin on through the High St. aid station and roll into the woods again. The West Side delivers the goods, singletrack palooza all the way to the finish.
This is a point to point race. We recommend that you have someone with a support vehicle for transport to and from the start and finish. There will be shuttles available as well, timing will vary depending on needs and routes.
Mass start at the bottom of Sawyer River rd.
Start time 9:00 AM for all categories.
Proceeds from The Livermore Challenge support local trails. White Mountains NEMBA maintains over 100 miles of trails in the Mount Washington Valley. All proceeds will be donated to WMNEMBA!
More information and current info posted here.
General Event Notes and Policies
The ride information and policies outlined in the registration policies, e-bike policies and the general event policies are to ensure riders have a safe and successful endeavor up Mt. Washington and have fun doing it, which means being prepared. The information below and policies set forth by the event coordinators are to ensure a successful and safe ride.
General Event Information
The steepness of the road and the possibility of extreme weather are there regardless of the type of bike you’re riding.
The Auto Road route is 7.6 miles in length with an average grade of 12% and extended sections of 18% with the last 50 yards reaching 22%.
Only Class 1 e-bikes that utilize pedaling and electric power (in accordance with USA Cycling’s definition outlined in #2 below) will be allowed to participate in the Early Bird ride.
It is critical that riders train and adequately prepare (physically and mentally) to take on the challenge of riding the Mt. Washington Auto Road.
Mt. Washington is home to the worst weather in America. According to the Mount Washington Observatory’s website, July temperature averages range from 44.5 to 55.3 degrees F. The record high is 71 and the record low is 24. Riders should anticipate, and be prepared for, weather-related challenges and changing conditions between the base and the summit. High, gusting winds and rain add to the physical challenge of riding up the mountain.
It is important for all riders registering in the Early Bird Ride, including E-bikes, to understand that the Early Bird Ride has extremely limited resources. This is an unsupported ride. All participants, and their drivers, need to be prepared with the essentials for completing the route.
There is no technical support at the base, on the road, or at the summit.
Event Policies
Organizers reserve the right to deny a rider participation if they fail to comply with any of the event policies.
The information and policies are subject to change.
All riders must check-in at registration to receive a bib number. Bib numbers must be pinned on an outer layer of clothing and visible at all times during the ride. Riders failing to present a bib number or whom do not have bib number will be required to immediately cease their ride and will not be allowed to continue up the Auto Road, regardless of where they are on the route.
All riders must start between 5 am and 6 am; no exceptions.
All riders are strictly forbidden from riding down the Auto Road.
Safety First – You MUST have lights on both the front and back of the bike for visibility and we recommend hi-vis clothing. Because this is self-supported, bring adequate hydration, food/fuel, first aid, tools and extra tubes.
All riders must wear a helmet.
Summit Vehicle Driver Information – All riders must have their own support and a ride down from the summit is solely the responsibility of the registered participant and not that of Tin Mountain Conservation Center, event volunteers, or the Auto Road.
Support Driver – Only cars associated with the practice ride are allowed up to the summit.
The Toll House opens at 5 am and cars must be on the road heading up by 6 am.
Support Vehicles must go directly to the summit and may not wait for their rider to pass by (no-leap frogging with other riders and cars).
Driving to the summit is authorized by the Mt. Washington Auto Road and drivers need to be aware of the rules and regulations regarding use of the Auto Road. We encourage all riders and drivers to review the vehicle restrictions and other information posted on the Mount Washington Auto Road site.
View Auto Road Vehicle Restrictions
The interior weight in the support driver’s vehicle cannot exceed 900 lbs coming down (driver, passengers, bikes, gear). Please add up the weight of each passenger and any additional luggage to make sure it is under this 900 lbs limit. This is a CRITICAL safety issue on the Auto Road. Tested over and over again, we have found that if you put more than 900 lbs in an automobile, the weight is too much for the transmission to hold back the vehicle on the steep grades. It can cause you to use your brakes too much, which will lead to overheated brakes, or worse. Please keep the interior weight of the car in check.
2026 Event Registration Policies
Registration is limited to 150 riders (including E-Bikes)
Registration is $150 per rider.
Registration opens at 9 am on April 1 and closes on July 12, 2026 at 5:00 pm.
Cancellations prior to July 1 will be refunded the amount paid at the time of registration minus a $25 administration fee.
Waitlisted riders will be moved into the event in the order registered.
No-shows will not be refunded their registration fee.
There is no day-of registration. This is due to the complexity of the ride and requirement to have vehicle support at the summit to ensure your ride down.
If you know you will be a no-show, please contact the event coordinator, [email protected]. It would be great to get a waitlisted rider in if we can.
Please see our website for additional information regarding weather conditions.
MWARBH Early Bird Ride 2026 E-Bike Policies
Recognizing that e-bikes are a fast-growing part of recreational and competitive cycling, we offering an e-bike category at the Early Bird ride. The Early Bird Ride presents a significant physical and mental challenge. We want you to be successful in this endeavor and have fun doing it, which means being prepared. The information below and policies set forth by the event coordinators are to ensure a successful and safe ride.
The following policies are to ensure riders registering for the e-bike category understand the challenges of riding up the Mt. Washington Auto Road. By registering for the event, you are agreeing to the e-bike policies outlined below and the registration and general event policies:
(a) Only Class 1 e-bikes that utilize pedaling and electric power will be allowed to participate in the Early Bird ride.
(b) Bike must be unmodified, which includes no chips or tuning packages.
(c) No Throttle.
(d) Freely operable pedaling system: rear wheel drive train of pedals, crank, chain and gear system.
(e) 750 watt or less motor (manufacturer’s label of compliance is the minimum standard requirement).
(f) Motor engages only with pedaling.
(g) Motor assistance cut off at 20 mph (32 kmh).
Exceptions to the Class 1 e-bike policy may be approved at the sole discretion of the event organizers.
E-bike riders should be prepared to provide information demonstrating their bike meets the definition above. Failure to provide the requested information may jeopardize a rider’s registration and participation in the ride.
E-bikes may be required to start at a specified time within the 5 am to 6 am window in order to maintain safety for all riders and drivers participating in the early bird event. If determined, start times will be communicated closer to the event date.
E-bike riders are responsible for their own equipment if technical support is required on the route; this includes tools and extra batteries. This is a minimally supported ride.
All riders are strictly forbidden from riding down the Auto Road.
Organizers reserve the right to deny a rider participation if they fail to comply with the e-bike policies
The information and policies are subject to change.

This means that not only do you have the confidence to know that the race will be safe, sanctioned, and insured but also that we follow a uniform set of rules with other USAT events. The term “sanction” refers to the compliance of a multisport event to USA Triathlon’s safety requirements. Safety plans, course maps, and event details must be submitted for review by USA Triathlon staff. It further requires our race director undergo an annual background check and maintain a certification from the U.S. Center for SafeSport.
