A brief preview of what you will be up against

The DP26 is jam-packed with what you love: gravel, climbing, and lot's of it! At 81.8 miles with 9,100 feet elevation gain, 59.4 miles with 6,500 feet elevation gain, or 28.5 miles with 2,900 feet elevation gain, these are tough courses! We have incorporated many classic DP dirt roads and climbs that have defined the event for 11 years, and added a few new ones!

Check out the DP web site for more info!

    How it will work

    • Date: Saturday, June 27: 81.8 miles and 59.4 miles at 7am and 28.5 mile at 9am.

    • Starting from Norwich Green, 22 Church St, Norwich, VT 05055 and finishing at the Norwich Inn, 325 Main St, Norwich, VT 05055.

    • We’ll have GPS files (Ride with GPS and Strava) available to download. Be advised, the course will not be marked.

    • 81.8 mile course map; 59.4 mile course map; 28.4 mile course map
    • Support: one support stop on the 28.4, three support stops on the 59.4, four support stops on the 81.8

    • We recommend 30-cc + tires. There will be class IV sections, but the course is generally ridable on a gravel, cross or road bike.

In 11 years the DP has raised over $600,000 for cancer research at the Dartmouth Cancer Center! This year we are aiming for $50,000!

    Sun, Aug 02, 2026 at 8:30 AM

Please join OMS for the Gravel Gallop bike ride on August 2. Riders can start at 8:30 am, but feel free to arrive at your convenience.

We have 3 route options: 9 mile, 32 mile, and 45 mile loops, all

through beautiful Plymouth, VT. The routes have great diversity and some challenging climbs. The start and finish will be at Plymouth State Park. The registration fee includes day use of the park for the whole day. Perfect for swimming in the lake after the ride!

This is a fun, non-competitive, self-guided ride. There are no aid stations or volunteers along the route, so please carry plenty of water and dress appropriately.

ALSO…we are riding on some fine, quiet dirt roads. BUT. We have to be mindful of other users. And there are some sections of road with sketchy washboards. The worst one.. maybe… is descending Old Turnpike towards Rt.103. There are nasty washboards into a sweeping left hand turn then a RR crossing. A wise person once told me…"When in doubt, chicken out" GREAT Mantra

Link to the 45 mile route on ridewithgps.com: OMS Big Gallop 44 · Ride with GPS

Please note: this is a self guided ride. You can download the GPS route to your device. We will also have paper maps available. There will be minimal signage and no volunteers or stations out on the ride.

To download either route on to a GPS device, click on your prefered ride from above. Once that opens at the bottom of the little box describing the ride click on “View Full Route -” to open the route. There you can do the map download for a GPS device by exporting the TCX file. There will also be a delicious burrito lunch and a seltzer afterwards!

100% of proceeds from this event will go directly toward local student-athlete financial assistance for this winter. Thank you for supporting our Scholarship Fund. OMS is a 501©(3).
