Join us for some beautiful spring single track trail miles along the MST!

The 17th annual trail race will follow the beautiful Mountains-to-Sea Trail (MST) as it winds through the woods along the Eno River towards Falls Lake.

    Not planning to run?

PLEASE SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER! We need you! Thank you 🙂

NEW FOR 2026 We are updating the 12M and 50K courses due to construction at Blue Jay Point County Park.

MST 12+ Miles (Closer to 13)

    MST 50 KM

All participants will receive a custom race shirt, finisher's award, and plenty of refreshments at the finish line! You can expect that we will setup a well-marked course, well-stocked aid stations, accurate results, and a good time! We will do our best to make sure you enjoy your experience!

MST 12M & 50K will be cupless! In an effort to make this a greener event, we ask that participants carry their own hydration device on the course. Water and electrolyte drinks will be available at all aid stations and the finish area.

All participants will receive a custom finishers award, plus additional awards for the top 3 overall finishers (M&F) and the top overall masters finishers (M&F) in each race.

This is a trail race: very different than a road race. You will be exposed to many obstacles you would not normally see in a road race. The course is a single-track hiking trail, so there are roots, rocks, quick turns, logs, woodland critters, and possibly water to avoid. There are plenty of aid stations and volunteers on the course, but if it’s a hot day or if you think you need more fluids, we highly recommend carrying your own.

We ask that you do not run with your dog, run with an unregistered pacer, run with headphones (open ear such as Shokz are OK), run with a jog stroller, and, of course, do not litter on the trail.

This event is proudly presented by Bull City Running Co.

    Race Benefactor

As a non-profit serving impoverished and homeless children and families, Note in the Pocket started with a simple mission: to clothe children with dignity and love. Note in the Pocket believes that it is unacceptable that children are limited in their educational and social development because they do not have appropriate clothes for school.

We have a goal to clothe 12,00 children and families from across the Triangle in 2026. Proceeds from this event help to make that happen.

The Glass Jug Beer Lab and Bull City Running Co. are proud to present the 5th annual Bull City Beer Mile on Saturday, April 25, 2026 in Downtown Durham's Central Park.

    What is a Beer Mile?

A 1-mile drinking race combining running and speed drinking. Typically, the race takes place on a 1/4-mile running track (flat). We will be running around Central Park (not flat!). The race begins with the consumption of a 12-oz beer (RUN DRM lager brewed by The Glass Jug Beer Lab), followed by a 1/4 mile lap around the park. The second lap continues similarly; another 12-oz beer is consumed before commencing the running of the second lap. This process is repeated for the next two laps. Following the completion of the fourth beer and fourth running lap, you will cross the finish line!

Competitors must be 21 years old or older. Additionally, there are 2-person and 4-person relay competition options!

Every participant or team not only receives four 12-ounce beers to consume as part of the race, but the first 300 registrants will also receive a Beer Mile headband, cooling towel, and sticker to take home with them!

Be sure to check out the optional add-ons for some new Beer Mile swag, including Beer Mile t-shirts, quick-dry hats, socks, glassware, and more!

The top 3 individual men and women, as well as the fastest 4-person and 2-person relay teams, will receive (huge) Bull City Beer Mile medals that double as bottle openers, plus a prize pack from Hoka, the official shoe brand of the Bull City Beer Mile!

    Party in the Park

This is more than just a race...it's a party! With heats running from 2:30 PM until 5 PM, the party will continue until 6:30 PM. We'll have DJ Gummy keeping things popping, with food available on site, and The Glass Jug mobile beer trailer parked in Durham Central Park, providing all the refreshments!

Runners and spectators are encouraged to hang out in the park to cheer on the runners and enjoy a beer of their own during the race. The after-party will continue in the park until 6:30 PM with The Glass Jug taproom remaining open until 12:00 AM.

    Parking

Parking will be available at the Durham Center Parking Garage at the corner of Foster and W Morgan St., as well as at the Farmer's Market lot on Morris Street.

    Please drink and run responsibly!
