The 2026 Eve Carson Memorial 5K for Education is an event to celebrate the outstanding leadership and support of community service Eve Carson exhibited during her time at UNC-Chapel Hill. This year, the 18th Annual Eve Carson Memorial 5K will be held on February 15, 2026 with registration and check-in starting at 6:00 am and the race beginning at 7:30 am!
We have a great route starting and finishing at Bynum Hall/Circle. Packet pickup will occur Friday, February 13 on campus (details coming soon!), but if you are unable to pick up your packet in advance, you can also pick it up before the race starts on February 15. Pre-race festivities start at 7:15 am and include a performance by the Clef Hangers, as well as a few surprises to help celebrate this exciting event! Additionally, we will have many vendors and family-friendly activities!
Virtual participants can join the Strava group to track their run or walk and compete with other participants through 11:59 pm February 20th.
The Eve Carson 5K has become one of the most widely supported philanthropy events in the Carolina community, and with your help, we hope to have another tremendously successful event! Proceeds from this year’s event will once again benefit the Eve Marie Carson Memorial Junior-Year Merit Scholarship and the Pi Beta Phi Literacy Fund.
Thank you to our wonderful sponsors: Mill House, Red Bull, Fazit, Brandwein's, Raising Canes, Even Dough, and Fleet Feet Chapel Hill.
If you need a training race in prep for the Tar Heel 10 miler or just a fun run, the UNC Spring SOTA Run is for you. The race features two event types: 5k and 10k in the Carolina North forest.
Both races will begin at the Carolina North forest parking lot with parking available down the lane.
Racers will be provided a finisher medal, a soda at the finish, and timing for the event.

Proceeds from the race will go to the Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA), a non-profit student organization that serves to promote professional development through education, leadership opportunities, networking, volunteer activities, social activities, and fundraising. SOTA also provides annual funding to first year occupational therapy students to represent UNC as Assembly of Student Delegates (ASD) representatives at the annual American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) conference and funds the MSOT graduation ceremony.
As part of our mission, we hope to provide the community with an opportunity to build relationships, connection, and fitness through shared opportunities. If interested in learning more about how recreational sports can impact your social connectedness and belonging check out the master student research poster presentation on April 25. All proceeds from this fundraiser will be gifted to the SOTA organization.

Course Distance: 250 YARD SWIM – 9 MILE BIKE – 2 MILE RUN
Triathlon (Swim, bike, and run and relay option):
Swim: The 250 yard swim takes place in the 5-lane pool of the UNC Wellness Center. Swimmers will enter and exit the pool area through separate doors. Swimmers will be self seeded according to the swim ability chart. Volunteers will be on hand to assist with lining up for the swim. You will be provided with a swim cap if you choose to wear it. After the swim, you'll experience the exhilaration of exiting the pool to the sound of cheers as you make your way to the transition area, located in the parking lot outside the pool area.
Bike: Once you mount your bike on Meadowmont Lane, you’ll take a right on Sprunt Street and then navigate your way through the beautiful streets of Meadowmont. Please be careful coming down all hills as there are sharp turns ahead. Pinehurst Drive will take you along the beautiful golf course and out towards Ephesus Church Road. After turning right onto Pope Rd and Old Chapel Hill Road, you’ll then take a right on Farrington Road, which is straight and fast. Bring it home via Route 54 and before you know it you’ll hear the cowbells ringing at the race site.
Run: The out-and-back run course starts and finishes on a charming greenway. The bulk of the run goes through the quiet residential streets of Meadowmont. Enjoy the tour of the lovely homes, each with large front porches and unique architecture. You’ll have a chance to grab a cool drink at both ends of the run course.
*Triathlon, aquathlon, duathlon and triathlon relay options available. Aquathlon is simply swim and run. Duathlon is run, bike, run. These are great introductions into multisport and perfect for daughters to participate with mom, aunt or grandma!
Finish line party: Celebrate with your family and friends and take in your accomplishment!
