It’s cold outside!
So join us for a fun new event series, The Crim Winter Warm-Up, to stay active and get ready for all your spring races and activities!
Michigan winters are probably going to be cold and snowy - and we KNOW they can be dark - but don’t let that keep you inside! New in 2026, the Crim is offering a 3-part event series called the Crim Winter Warm-Up! The events are designed to be fun, informal, low-cost and high-value! Come on out, shake off the cold, and make some new friends. Run, walk, jog, or something that suits you.
What is it? How does it work? What do I get?
The Crim Winter Warm-Up is a series of three events where you can join up with a group to do a winter time run or walk. These FUN RUNS/WALKS are open to participants of all paces and the Crim Team will provide suggested 3-mile and 5-mile routes (though you can go shorter or longer distances based on your preferences).
These are self-guided, untimed events intended to provide a venue and platform for people to get together and have some fun training while creating social connections!
The best part? Each event will be hosted by one of our amazing community partners!
Winter Warm-Up Event 3: February 28 at 11AM, hosted by the Flint Crepe Co.
To complete the series, join us at the Crepe Company - the first 50 to register will receive a Crim drawstring bag.
All participants can enjoy a free beverage from the Crepe Company. Food items will be available for purchase, as well!
How much does it cost?
Events are $10 each or $25 if you sign up for all three at once! This $10 includes entry, suggested route maps, complimentary beverages or food items mentioned above, and a Crim giveaway, while supplies last.
Can I get some swag?
You know it! Winter Warm-Up training hoodies are available in registration for $30, and long sleeved tech shirts for $20. These items can be picked up at the event at the check in table. Additional items, like long-sleeved t-shirts, hoodies, and hats can be purchased through our Crim Store.

The start/finish area will also serve as “Party Central.” Participants can expect a well-stocked aid station, music, cheering spectators, and our announcer calling your name as you finish or embark on additional loops.
While the course will be open for 3 hours from 9:00am-12:00pm, all runners and walkers must begin their first loop at 9:00am.

Please do not enter Mott’s Campus via Court and Gorman or park in Lot A as that is reserved for Mott Students and Faculty. Please make sure that you arrive early for parking!
Restrooms:
- Restrooms will be available in the Durham Wellness and Physical Education Center and the Ballenger Field House.
Awards will be given, male and female, for the fastest mile loop, fastest to cover 3, 5, and 10 miles, most loops completed, and a large prize will be awarded to any person who can complete the “Mott Marathon” in under three hours - 26 laps on the campus course.
Award Rules:
-
Fastest mile loop can be completed anytime during the 3 hours.
-
To be eligible for the fastest TO REACH 3 miles, 5 miles or 10 miles awards, the loops must be done consecutively - the award is given to the first individual to cover the distance.

All awards are given male and female, runner AND walker- However, each participant is only eligible to win one of the goal mileage awards (3, 5, or 10 miles). For instance a participant could win "fastest to 3 miles" but not also "fastest to 5 miles". The participant CAN also win "fastest" or "most loops" in conjunction with one of the above listed awards.
