Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 7:45am at Fletcher’s Cove is our FIFTH annual Run 4 MK. In partnership with Bishop’s Events, we’re coming together to run in support of ending chronic homelessness in Washington, DC
By participating in person or virtually, you’ll support Miriam’s Kitchen’s essential programs and services. The run is scheduled near Veterans Day and at the start of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week (November 15-21, 2026). These dates align closely with the heart of our work and the people we serve.
Run 4 MK honors the legacy of Waldon Adams, our late friend, former guest, and community leader. Waldon was an avid runner, who completed more than 80 races, including 15 marathons. He was also a passionate advocate who helped others find safe and stable housing. We will celebrate his life and impact, five years after his passing.
The race takes place at a meaningful location. It’s within the area our Outreach Team regularly serves. It’s a chance to connect with the community, meet other passionate advocates, and take action for housing justice.
You can join in on the mission by:

The Horace Mann PTA is hosting its 6th annual Great Turkey Chase 5K & Fun Run, and we are so excited! This is one of the few opportunities we have during the school year where we can come together as a community - families, teachers, and neighbors - to celebrate our amazing school and faculty, as well as have a great time!
Why are we running? Over 75% of the PTA’s fundraising dollars go towards the salaries of many of our partner teachers and specialists – funds that are not provided by DCPS. The PTA also supports a myriad of initiatives, including educational programs like gardening and language, professional development opportunities, classroom enrichment, facility enhancements, and more! Each registered runner and donor makes a huge difference as we strive to further enhance our school. Help us make this year our biggest event yet!
And what's a race without a little competition? Our students are getting in on the fundraiser action by seeking donations from friends and extended family for ultimate bragging rights and a chance to win a Pajama Day and Pizza Party. During registration sign-up, runners will have an option to add a donation for the grade competition! Be sure to mention the name and grade of the students you're donating on behalf of, so they get credit.
Starting time is November 15th at 9:30AM (5K) and 9:40AM (1 Mile) from the Mann parking lot. Note: These runs will not be on a closed course so please keep to the sidewalks and practice caution while running through the neighborhood.
Come enjoy a challenging but fun pre-Thanksgiving race with friends at Barrel Oak Winery.
Walkers and leashed pets are welcome to attend this event.
