Ride with a Purpose - All Proceeds go to Rare Disease Research and Advocacy
I started this endeavor twelve years ago as a passionate cyclist with a cause. Building community, Advocating for a cause, challenged with the parallels between gravel riding/ racing, walking the rare disease journey and educating myself and others, about childhood rare disease. I am not a charity but work directly with Vermont Rare, Rasopathies Network, CFC International amongst others to educate people on rare disease and finding ways to improve the lives of young people and families that live with a rare disease. So if you to are passionate about something, enjoy strong community and friends, do things with a purpose, love to ride and are excited about a new challenge, Vermont Rare Gravel might be the perfect fit!
“Have you ever been on a ride when the vibe and flow is just right? That was the feeling of the RAS Adventure Ride. With a great mix of classic Vermont dirt roads, limited amounts of tarmac and many challenging miles of off-road segments, you have all the elements of a classic dirt road event in the making. I hear that there will be even more off-road sections next year, so it’s only going to get better! Be sure to mark this event on your calendar for next year – you won’t want to miss it.”
"Thanks for another great RAS ride! It was my girlfriend's first travel event, and her longest ride ever! She survived and enjoyed it, even the crazy hill around mile 30!" ~2018 Participant

The Tucker Tour is what you get when you connect all of the amazing Class VI roads in and around Mount Kearsarge and Ragged Mountain in beautiful central New Hampshire. What is a Class VI road you ask? Well, the state of NH defines a Class VI road as an existing public way that has “not been maintained and repaired by the town in suitable condition for travel thereon for 5 successive years or more.”
What does this mean for those of you looking to tackle the Tucker Tour? Well, you can expect every sort of terrain, from paved and gravel roads all the way to completely unrideable hike-a-bike paths through the woods and everything in between. The 80 mile course has only 15 miles of paved roads and around 38 miles of unmaintained Class VI. Many of these paths are quite steep, which only adds to the difficulty. In summary, this is a ride that is much harder than its distance might indicate.
If the 80 mile course seems a bit much, there is a 62, 36, and a 24 mile course as well. We strongly suggest loading multiple routes on to your computer/phone in case you start on the 62 mile route, but don’t have great legs and need to switch to the 36 mile route.
This is a 100% self-supported ride. Each participant is expected to be able to navigate on their own using the provided .gpx route or Strava route. There is no cue sheet and no navigational aids along the course. As far as provisions go, there are 2 general stores/gas stations along the route at approximately 19 miles and 54 miles.
So, what do you get for participating? Besides the satisfaction of completing something that is incredibly hard, each participant will receive a sticker and a mug featuring this year’s unique logo design!
You can find more information, including a FAQ section, at lioncreekdesign.com/tucker-tour-26.
A big shout out to Josh and the Class VI Classic for showing the way. So much of this ride is inspired by what he has put on up in Etna, NH. If you think you would enjoy the Tucker Tour, you would have a great time in June at the Class VI Classic.
The Marlborough Community Foundation Race: Back and Better than Ever!
The Marlborough Community Foundation Race, created over 30 years ago, was designed to bring together the community in celebration of health, spirit, and giving back. What started as a small local event has grown into an annual tradition, attracting over 250 runners and raising funds for scholarships that support local students' higher education.
After a brief hiatus, the race is back—this time partnering with the Wayside Inn Foundation to revitalize the event. The collaboration brings new energy and a broader focus on community, with employees from local businesses joining in and strengthening community ties. Whether running, walking, or participating in a corporate challenge, everyone can contribute to a great cause.
Proceeds will benefit the economic development of the foundations service areas. The revitalized race celebrates fitness, community, and education, while supporting both the foundation’s mission and the Wayside Inn’s legacy.
Join us this year to make a difference, celebrate local pride, and help ensure the race continues to impact future generations. It’s going to be the best one yet!
