Held in Chelsea, Massachusetts, our 3rd annual road race invites participants to experience a scenic route that winds through the heart of the community, passing by cherished local landmarks. The Chelsea Road Race continues to serve as a meaningful platform to promote healthy living and empower community members to embrace running and movement as part of their everyday lives.
This year marks an exciting milestone as we proudly introduce, for the first time, wheelchair division for both female and male participants, further strengthening our commitment to accessibility, inclusivity, and equal opportunity in sport. The race celebrates Chelsea’s rich and diverse cultural heritage while offering more than just a test of physical endurance, it is a celebration of community, resilience, and unity.
Designed for individuals of varying abilities and experience levels, the course welcomes seasoned runners, casual joggers, and adaptive athletes alike. To recognize and reward early participation, the first 500 registered participants will receive an official race T-shirt as part of their race-day experience. The fee for the first six (6) wheelchair registrations will be waived using promo code: CHELSEAUNITED2026.
See you at the starting line!
The Chelsea Road Race is proudly organized and managed by the City of Chelsea Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs. This program is funded in part by the Chelsea Community Fund and a grant from the Chelsea Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
Important Note: Parking for the Start is ½ mile up Wallum Lake Road at the 1st Dirt Trail Head because the main entrance to the Park doesn't open until after 8 AM, you would need to pay to park, and the line to enter the park is long.
This is the FREE Labor Day ”Reach the Beach” NS Trail Gravel Race/Ride. The Start will be at the trail head parking in Douglas, MA. All gravel segments will be New Strava segments with entrants times posting after the race. Awards will be given for winners for the OA finish in each catagory. This is a FREE Event and all we ask is that all participants make a Tax deductible donation to the “Tunnels to Towers” organization www.t2t.org that supports Our Veterans and First Responders. Or you can make a donation to the Whitin Community Center www.whitincommunitycenter.com. This is a completely Non-Profit event to give back to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our FREEDOM!
The GPS track is provided. It follows the entire NS trail from Douglas, MA 82 miles to Blue Shutters Beach in Charlestown, RI. The Buck Hill section of the NS Trail is “by passed” because it’s unridable. Everything on the Track can be ridden by a skilled rider. There is a mix of road, gravel, cart roads, single track and some short “hike a bike” sections. Any bike Gravel or Mountain Bike with no wider than 2.1 tires will be a good choice to best manage the course. The woods do have deer flys so, bring bug repellent.
The best plan is to have your Family spend the day at Blue Shutters Beach in Charlestown, RI where the ride Finishes. Changing and shower facilities are available at the Beach. You do need to pay for a day beach pass but, after 5 PM entry is free. I anticipate a finish around 4 PM.

The Marlowe Challenge – September 12, 2026
Choose your challenge: 100 or 50 miles through the best of Massachusetts cycling. Departing from the quiet, tree-lined campus of the Fenn School in Concord, this ride rolls through historic Revolutionary War country, climbs the apple-orchard hills of Worcester County, and tackles the iconic summit of Mt. Wachusett before returning to Concord for a celebratory finish line.
The ride benefits The Marlowe Foundation, which directly funds local and regional organizations empowering people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), turning grants and partnerships into real opportunities.
This is a track riding and racing clinic for riders who are not familiar with riding a fixed gear or riding on a velodrome. Track racing has some peculiarities that make it a little different from road riding or racing. This clinic will give you the knowledge and experience necessary to begin track riding at the Northeast Velodrome.
The course consists of 3 sets of skills:
Getting started and stopping on a fixed gear bike
Spinning and controlling your speed with your pedals instead of brakes
Practice riding close to another rider
Learning to hold a line while continuing to pedal through
Learning how it feels to use the banking and the turns
The terminology of the track lanes
How to move and communicate with the other riders on the track
Learning how to use the turns and the banking of the track to form and hold a pace line
Taking a turn on the front and then moving out and up and back to take a place at the back
Learning race rules for various track events
At the end you will have the knowledge and some experience of track riding. You will understand how riding a fixed gear on a track differs from road or mountain riding with a freewheel and brakes.
The course fee includes rental of a track bike if needed. If you are renting you need to bring pedals and shoes. A helmet is required. Please indicate your frame size, and if you know it your saddle height, measured from the center of the crank axle to the top of the saddle. This is not required but will aid in preparing the bike and speeding the sizing process.
Price: $30 - Field limit of 8. Rental is included. Successful completion of this course certifies you to ride any other events at the Northeast Velodrome.

About the race
For 2026, we have decided to remove the 10k race and will no longer name our longest race a Marathon. It will be called the Bear Brook Trail Ultramarathon going forward. We will continue to offer a Half Marathon distance which will be as accurate to 13.1 miles as we can get it. For the Ultra - We will be a little less upfront on the distance - it will likely change from year to year and will be anywhere from 50k to 100k.... We will release the course 1 month before the race date and the old phrase "“How many miles did your GPS get?" will still be in play.We are excited to once again share the absolute beauty of Bear Brook State park and all the trails it has to offer. From beautiful single track, to steep uphills, and of course, the magnificent blueberry fields, Bear Brook has so so much to offer no matter which of the race you choose. .Please note that this is a NO CUP race - we do not supply cups at the aid stations. None. You will need to supply your own water bottles/soft flasks, etc to re-fill along the course. We will not have anything for you to put water in at the aid stations. This is to keep all littering in the park to an absolute minimum and ensure that we can continue to work with the State in obtaining this permit. Please note we do not allow pets to run during the race with runners and crews/pacers are not allowed.
2026 Course
Continuing in 2026, The Bear Brook Trail Races will be a GPX only event. There will be minimal to no course markings. If you are not comfortable with this format, please do not sign up. Entrants will be required to download the course GPX and utilize that to navigate their way along the course. The GPX will be made available in advance of the Event and will be sent to all entrants. Please contact us directly if you have any questions. Thank you!
How to get there
157 Deerfield Road, Allenstown, NH
Look for the snowmobile lot, we will have race day signs at entrance. If you come in from route 28 it will be on the right (if you see the toll booth you went too far) , if you come in from the other side of the park it will be on your left (past the toll booth). You are looking for a dirt driveway going into a large dirt lot.
Cutoffs
There is no cutoff for half marathon races but there will be a cutoff for the Ultramarathon. Ultramarathon runners will receive cutoff details when the course is released.
Dropping Out
Dropping out:Runners not able to complete the race due to physical or mental circumstances must check-in solo or aided to the nearest aid station, notify aid station volunteers, and turn in their bib number to aid station personnel. This policy is to ensure that all runners are accounted for during the race and is for the safety of all participants. Runners failing to notify race organizers or volunteers of a dropped status or who fail to turn in their bib numbers will be banned from future races.
Where to stay
You can camp in the park, please book early to ensure a campsite. There are places to stay in Concord, NH which is about 20 minutes away from the race. Concord and Manchester are the closest major towns near the race start.
Refund Policy
It is our policy to offer a full refund (minus the fees charged by Ultrasignup) to a runner if they cancel their registration through Ultrasignup no later than 60 days prior to the date of the race. An email to the Race Director does not constitute a cancellation. Within 60 days, the fee is either forfeited or the runner may request a deferment of the registration fee up to and no later than the following year.
