Bring yourself or your sweetheart for our 10th annual fun Valentine's Day Run benefiting the Vigo County YMCA's annual campaign and scholarships for our youth program.
We will have pre-race packet pickup on Friday, February 13th from 5:00 pm- 6:30 pm.
Race day packet pick-up and registration will occur from 8:30 am-9:45 am.
Both of these activities will take place at the Vigo County YMCA.
Online registration closes at 11:59pm on Friday the 13th.We will have race day sign ups available.
You can drop off your child ( 6 weeks to 12 years) at the child watch from 8:30 am until the race ends.

The Swamp Stomp is a 5-mile run and a 4-mile walk. There is also a 1-mile fun run option. The race itself is run on the trails of Hawthorn Park. The trails are generally in good shape however the weather can always make it a bit swampy so look out for alligators. The course is always well marked with plenty of course volunteers. After the race, stick around for awards and the our post-race snacks!
You must preregister by March 15th at 11:59 PM to receive a shirt. Online registration will continue online up to race morning but no shirt will be provided.
Awards will be given; including overall awards, age group awards, and walker awards. Awards are based on 5-year age groups. The number of awards per age group will be determined based on the pre-registered numbers in each age group. Awards range from 1 to 3 per age group.
There are also walker awards that are not age based. The number of walker awards will be based on the number of pre-registered walkers and will be awarded based on the first walker across the finish line and so on. IF YOU ARE SIGNED UP AS A WALKER, PLEASE DO NOT RUN! We have competitive walkers who work hard to win the race and it wouldn’t be fair for a someone to run part of the race and beat out a competitive walker who walked the complete event.

Thunder in the Valley Triathlon is 41 years old in 2026. Athletes will also get top notch swag with custom die cast finisher medals and awards, swim caps, and a super cool Thunder in the Valley t-shirt.
Sprint Triathlon Distances 500Μ SWIM 20K BIKE 5K RUN
Duathlon Distances 1.6K RUN 20K BIKE 5K RUN
This triathlon will begin at 8am with a 500 meter swim in the calm Hawthorn Lake. After a quick lakeside transition athletes will head out for a smooth, fast 20k bike course with rolling hills that brings them back to the transition area. Athletes will then run on a shaded, flat out and back 5k course before returning to the finish line. This race is the perfect race for the new triathlete looking for their first triathlon, or the seasoned athlete looking for their first race of the season. For 41 years, Thunder has been the race to kick-off triathlon season!
The Duathlon will begin with a 1 mile out and back run to transition before heading out on the 20k bike course. This race is held around and within beautiful Hawthorn Park with great competition for beginners and experienced athletes. Awards and post race refreshments following the race.
The guarantee t-shirt cutoff is May 1st at 11:59pm. If you sign up after this date, there is not a guarantee you will get a shirt, even though we will order some extras.
USAT rules state that competitors may wear wetsuits if the water temperature is 78 degrees or lower.
USAT rules also state that if the water temperature is between 78.1 – 83.9 degrees, competitors may wear wetsuits but will not be eligible for awards or USAT ranking points.

This run benefits the organization Team of Mercy whom offers assistance to those left behind after an attempted or completed suicide. Each year Surviving the Color will be dedicated in memory to those lost in our local community to suicide.

Participants should plan to walk to the start line which is approximately 200 meters from Baesler's Market. After the event ends in Deming Park participants should plan to walk back to Baesler's which is just under a mile away from Deming Park.

If you would like a memorial banner in memory of someone you've lost to suicide placed along the route, please send your request to [email protected]. Please send a photo along with their name and birth/passing dates. Please have all requests submitted by April 30th. If we have had a banner made in the previous years, you DO NOT need to email in your request. We use them year after year.
The event will start at 8:30 a.m. with an opening ceremony at the corner of Ohio and Brown.
You will then run/walk down Ohio to Deming Park. After 2 laps around the park and passing through tons of color stations, you will end at the Deming Park Pavilion, where participants will enjoy free snacks, refreshments, and music!

Established in 2006, the Hawthorn Half Day Relay & Ultra is a one-of-a-kind endurance event welcoming runners and walkers of all levels. In 2026, we’re proud to celebrate our 20th anniversary—and we’d love for you to be part of it!
Choose between a 6-hour or 12-hour race, both starting at 7:00 a.m. Participants compete on a scenic 5K loop of trail and road. To ensure every lap counts, a ½-mile short course will be available during the final 30 minutes of the race.

The Course & Runners Village

Campgrounds along the course will be open for optional camping and include restrooms and water stations. This setup makes Hawthorn Half Day especially family- and crew-friendly—plenty of chances to cheer runners on lap after lap!
What Can You Do in Half a Day?
At Hawthorn Half Day, there is no set distance, only time, movement, and community. Take one lap or many. Set a goal or let the day unfold.
This race is about showing up, sharing miles, and finding your rhythm together.
Go solo or team up. Run, walk, or shuffle your way through as many miles as you can. Relay teams can split the distance however they choose, making this a great option for first-timers and seasoned ultrarunners alike.

The family-friendly event takes place at the beautiful Griffin Bike Park in Vigo County. Registration for the Quick Quack Trail Run includes a Quick Quack shirt, custom race bib, disposable timing chip and the feeling of knowing that you are helping to create hope in our community.

The Twilight River Run, presented by Riddell National Bank, will be on Friday, July 24th at Fairbanks Park. This is a 1 Mile run/walk or a 5k run/walk and please note, this is a NIGHT race. Register by July 18th to guarantee a shirt. Race day registration will be available.
Race packet pickup will be located at the YMCA from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM on July 24th.
Each year the Twilight River Run includes a high school team event were schools can compete as a group to win money for their school running program. Each team must consist of at least four members. High school awards for both girls and boys. The four fastest times from each team will be used for the team placement. Team members are eligible for individual age group awards. The school team with the lowest cumulative time will win $250, and the second place team will win $100 for their school running program.
The Twilight River Run also funds the WVRR Scholarship Program. Each year WVRR awards two scholarships to outstanding student athletes from the Wabash Valley. Applicants are evaluated based on their academic and athletic accomplishments as well as the contributions they make to their schools and communities. You wont want to miss the 8th annual Brat Trot 5k through Terre Haute's historical brewing district hosted by Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church!
The Brat Trot has 2 awesome 5k races (the beer challenge 5k and regular 5k) and a 1 mile fun run for you to choose from!
The main event is the Beer Challenge where participants will run our 1 mile loop course through the brewing district. At each lap you must consume a 4 ounce shot glass of beer and have the race volunteer place a check mark on your bib# before continuing on to your next lap. After 3 laps you will then cross the finish line and should have consumed a total of 12 ounces / 1 beer! All beer will be provided by Afterburner Brewing Company!
Parking will be located at the Vigo County Library's Parking lot. Please park in the back of the parking lot, so you do not interfere with those attending the Library. 1 Library Square, Terre Haute, IN 47807

Parking
There is a limited amount of parking inside Hawthorn Park. Enter the park, turn left and utilize the first parking lot just north of the Dogwood Shelter (you cannot utilize the parking lot at Dogwood as this is where the finish line setup is).
There is additional parking on the west side of the park entrance, but please note this is part of the 10K course and there will be runners and walkers utilizing this stretch until after 11AM. The majority of the parking is located ACROSS the road from the park entrance. This is grass parking.

The 2026 Christmas in the Park, sponsored by Chick-fil-A, will be held on December 5, 2026 at Deming Park. This race benefits Clothe a Child with 50% of the proceeds going to the organization. This race includes a 5K run/walk option for adults and youth, and a 1-mile Reindeer Romp for youth. The Reindeer Romp will start at 9:40 a.m. with the 5K starting after that. The deadline to register and receive a t-shirt is Sunday, November 29th at 11:59P. Packet pick up will take place the morning of the race at the Torner Center inside Deming Park.
