The Swamp Stomp is a 5-mile run and a 4-mile walk. There is also a 1-mile fun run option. The race itself is run on the trails of Hawthorn Park. The trails are generally in good shape however the weather can always make it a bit swampy so look out for alligators. The course is always well marked with plenty of course volunteers. After the race, stick around for awards and the our post-race snacks!
You must preregister by March 15th at 11:59 PM to receive a shirt. Online registration will continue online up to race morning but no shirt will be provided.
Awards will be given; including overall awards, age group awards, and walker awards. Awards are based on 5-year age groups. The number of awards per age group will be determined based on the pre-registered numbers in each age group. Awards range from 1 to 3 per age group.
There are also walker awards that are not age based. The number of walker awards will be based on the number of pre-registered walkers and will be awarded based on the first walker across the finish line and so on. IF YOU ARE SIGNED UP AS A WALKER, PLEASE DO NOT RUN! We have competitive walkers who work hard to win the race and it wouldn’t be fair for a someone to run part of the race and beat out a competitive walker who walked the complete event.

Campgrounds along the course will be open for optional camping and include restrooms and water stations. This setup makes Hawthorn Half Day especially family- and crew-friendly—plenty of chances to cheer runners on lap after lap!
What Can You Do in Half a Day?
At Hawthorn Half Day, there is no set distance, only time, movement, and community. Take one lap or many. Set a goal or let the day unfold.
This race is about showing up, sharing miles, and finding your rhythm together.
Go solo or team up. Run, walk, or shuffle your way through as many miles as you can. Relay teams can split the distance however they choose, making this a great option for first-timers and seasoned ultrarunners alike.
