The Magnificent 7 Race Series consists of 21 races located within a 7-county area in south-central Indiana. Individuals who complete at least 7 of these races during a given year are automatically eligible for Series awards!
The Magnificent 7 Race Series is overseen by a volunteer committee of runners and walkers, who are active participants and dedicated to the common good of the Series. Please note, though, that each race in the Series is autonomous and managed by a local director, NOT the Mag 7 committee. Race directors set rules for their own races, but agree to meet a minimum set of standards required for Series inclusion.
The Magnificent 7 Race Series is indebted to our founder, Dr. Jerry Ruff. Dr. Ruff first organized the the Series in 1997, with a goal of encouraging broader participation in local races. He cobbled together a set of road races within a 7-county area and sought out sponsors to fund participation awards. His legacy lives on! (Dr. Ruff's contribution to local sports goes beyond the Mag 7. You can read more about his legacy in this nomination that advocates for him to be added to the Monroe County Sports Hall of Fame.)

About Sycamore Land Trust:
Sycamore Land Trust is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1990 that is dedicated to preserving the beauty, health, and diversity of southern Indiana’s natural landscape through strategic land conservation, habitat restoration, and environmental education. Across our 26-county service area, we have permanently protected over 11,800 acres on more than 150 protected properties. Our organization is nationally accredited by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission for meeting rigorous standards of conservation excellence. We restore critical habitats like wetlands, forests, wildflower meadows, and grasslands that support native wildlife and provide a refuge for threatened species. Thirteen of our preserves are open to the public, where we maintain over 30 miles of free hiking trails, offering outdoor recreation opportunities for all ages and abilities. We also provide free environmental education programs for local schools and community groups, reaching thousands of students each year
with hands-on lessons in nature. Community members can get involved through volunteer workdays, guided hikes, and citizen science projects, deepening their connection to the land and helping to ensure a healthier, more resilient environment for future generations.
About BHSN Environmental Club:
BHSN Environmental Club is a student-led group, who cares deeply about the environment. Many of us are also student athletes, so we thought we could marry those two passions to benefit the Sycamore Land Trust -- an organization which continues to benefit our local environment and community in so many ways. We're excited to be partnering with Perfect Timing Race Management LLC in this inaugural year of the Race for Restoration 5K and we hope to see you there!

April 11th, 2026 is the date for the 20th running of the Greene & Schultz Hoosier Half Marathon, 5K and 10k. Ivy Tech and the Monroe County Parks and Rec will continue to be the home of the 2026 course. We are very thankful for our partnership with Ivy Tech, Cook Medical, Simtra, the Monroe County YMCA and the Monroe County Parks & Rec to bring you this challenging course that highlights these businesses and the newly created Karst Park greenway that spans all the way to Ellettsville. The 5K will run around Cook Medical and up to the NW YMCA before turning around and returning to Ivy Tech. The 10k option continues past the YMCA and down onto the Karst park greenway before reversing course and returning to Ivy Tech. The Half Marathon option continues on from there to span all of the new section of the Karst Park greenway and takes you all the way to Ellettsville before reversing course. After initial feedback on the 2023 course, we want to again caption the saying that this is the
TOUGHEST RUN YOU'LL EVER LOVE!!
In 2024 we reduced our prices in spite of all of the increases in cost with inflation. It helped to boost our attendance and hopefully increased some positive word of mouth as well. We are keeping those reduced prices in place for 2026. We're happy to pass along that this course is easier to secure, safer and more cost effective. Please help us by bringing a friend to join us on April 11th, 2026 for the 20th running of the Greene & Schultz Hoosier Half Marathon 5k and 10k!
