The Second Annual Strawberry Shortcake 5K will kick off the annual Strawberry Shortcake Festival. Join us on Sunday, June 8th, 2025 at 9am in Switchyard Park. This sweet race is sponsored by the Auxiliary to the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington and supports our local Clubs! The course will take you on a tour of Switchyard Park. Starting at the Pavilion, and heading south toward Country Club Road, you will pass the playground and dog parks. Turning around at Country Club Road, you will traverse the park until you get to Hopscotch Coffee. Don't stop there! Turn once more and finish back at the Pavilion to celebrate your completion. Get outside, have fun, and help us support the kids of Bloomington!

There's more! This year, we are so proud to be joining The Magnificent 7 Race Series! The Mag 7 Race Series consists of 21 races located within a 7-county area in south-central Indiana. Individuals who complete at least 7 of these races during a given year are automatically eligible for Series awards. Check them out at mag7raceseries.com for more information.

Be sure to return to Switchyard Park on June 12th for the annual Strawberry Shortcake Festival and treat yourself to a delicious serving of strawberry shortcake. The pound cake is made by our auxiliary members and served with Strawberries, Whipped Cream, and Bruster's Vanilla Ice Cream.

Join us for the Monster Dash, a family-friendly fun run on November 1, the day after Halloween! Lace up your shoes, grab your costume, and bring your friends for a morning of fun and a great way to support the Auxiliary to the Boys & Girls Club!

    A few race highlights:

    • Run/walk a 1-mile or 5K route — perfect for all ages and fitness levels!

    • Costumes encouraged! Use that Halloween spirit for one more day!

    • Well-behaved dogs and strollers welcome. (Costumes are especially encouraged for those well-behaved pups!)

    • Free professional photos available for download after the event.

    • No official timing. No official prizes. Just fun for all!

The race will start at Grandview Elementary School and continue on the Karst Greenway Trail. (This is the same route as the MCCSC Fun Run!) You can find ample parking at Grandview Elementary and walk behind the gym to find the race start.

There will be a slightly staggered start. The 5K walkers/runners will begin at 11am. The 1-mile walkers/runners will begin five minutes later.

This is a great way to launch the holiday season, get a little bit more use out of those costumes, get some hilarious photos, and best of all, support the Boys and Girls Club.
