We are back in June for the Muffin Run! We are part of the Run Nova Scotia Race Series again this year. If is a fantastic opportunity to do a 5Km walk or Run while taking in the sights of Lunenburg
"A World Heritage Site". The 5k is now a fundraiser for the West Nova Fuels Soccer Club and the Canadian Dory Racing Association and is part of the Run Nova Scotia Road Race Series! It allows kids in the Lunenburg County to participate in a great community program and we are also promoting the Lunenburg Dory Program.
The route will take you through a stroll through town starting at the community centre. Passing by the board walk and the Bluenose and many other working fishing vessels. Between breaths - Try to take in the sites of old buildings and salty air. The route takes you around the outside edge of town to see the Lunenburg Academy towering for all to see. Back into town for a downhill sprint to the finish line. The race starts at 9:00 this year and the race route will be open until 11am.
This event is always enjoyed by a large number of runners and walkers. There is a race t-shirt for those participants that register before May 15th. We do not mail out the race t-shirt if you do not show up on race day. Sizes are given out based on first come and first serve on race day. Please be aware that non-service dogs are banned from participating in the race and if you're running with a stroller please line up at the back.
The Awards and Reception: Begins in Lunenburg Community Center, 10 minutes after the final runner finishes the race. It is here where the hundreds of homemade muffins made by the numerous volunteers are found that make this an even further special event.
Special Draw Prizes: Many draw prizes are donated by local merchants. With some fun raffle draws on big prizes.
Race registration is $40.00 and $45.00 for race day registration. We are doing awards for Lunenburg County runners and we would like to track who our RNS members are so please check off if you fall into these categories.
This event is organized by the West Nova Fuel Lunenburg United Soccer Club and the the local Canadian Dory Racing Association. The race is to give back to the people in our community.
