Plainfield American Legion 5K Charity Run

Please join us in supporting the George Werden Buck Boys & Girls Club of Joliet by participating in our Inaugural 5K Run/Walk.

The Mission Statement of the Boys & Girls Club: “To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.”

At no cost to our members, the Club provides educational programming and tutoring, health and life skills, sports, fitness, and recreation, and meals through the Northern Illinois Food Bank. All in a safe place to learn and grow.

With your support, we cannot only continue to provide our members with vital services and opportunities but can grow our membership and provide services to a larger portion of our community. Start your day by running or walking the 5K on the main Campus of Joliet Junior College

Packet Pick-up:

• Friday, May 30, 10 am - 1 pm and 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm, at the G W Buck Boys & Girls Club, 226 E Clinton Street, Joliet, IL 60432. While you're picking up your packet, you can take a tour of the Club and get an idea what we do!

• Saturday May 31, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00, at the Law Offices of Rathbun, Cservenyak & Kozol LLC, 3260 Executive Drive, Joliet, IL 60431

Race Morning Packet pickup begins at 7:30 am. Race begins 8:30 (runners first, then walkers) followed by awards and snacks.

Back by popular demand..... all proceeds benefitting the Pat Clark Cancer Foundation.

This 5K is a chance to help us raise funds to support local cancer patients in our communities. Come join us for a beautiful run/walk through Rock run Greenway Trail, starting and ending at Cemeno's, 1630 Essington road.

All monies raised will go directly to local cancer patients and their families. the PCCF is a 501 (c)(3) organization, completely run by volunteers.

Thanks to Carol Guist of Baird & Warner Monday Miles will be a fun way to be active by running or walking 1, 2, or 3 miles each Monday evening from 6/1-8/3.

Come to seven or more Mondays and earn a commemorative 2026 event t-shirt.

Work all summer and set your goal for the final week’s bib-timed run at our Recycled Run.

Monday Miles will have a mass start at 6:15pm! Course will be open until 7:15pm.

Join us on Saturday, August 29, 2025 for the Will County Brew Run 5k an exciting event that features an awesome course paired with excellent local craft beer. Whether you are a competitive Runner, Fun Runner, Walker, or just enjoy excellent local craft beer this is the event for you!

The 5K Run/Walk kicks off at 4:00pm. There will be a Beer Garden area on site for post race festivities!

Come out and join us for our 28th Annual Harvest 5k-10k run/walk & Kids Miler. As the oldest race in the Plainfield, this event has averaged around 800 to 900 people each year and has been put on by the Plainfield Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce. Prior to the race, be sure to visit our vendors and sponsors who will be throughout the park.

Proceeds from the race each year are donated back out in the Plainfield and surrounding communities to non-profits and other organizations. In the history of the race, the chamber has been able to donate over $400,000.00 back to the community. Each year a Give Back Luncheon takes place in November where this happens. Thank you for being a part of something great!

Village Green Park - start line is at the corner of Fox River and Ottawa Streets.

Parking Locations:

Street parking east and north of Village Green Park.

Plainfield Central High School (24120 Fort Beggs Drive) - there is a sidewalk at the north end of the parking lot that will take you right to the race venue.

Plainfield Area Public Library (15025 S. Illinois Street).

7 to 8:45 AM - Bib pick up in Village Green Park

8:15 AM - registration for the Kidz Miler closes

8:30 AM - Kidz Miler begins

9:00 AM - 5K/10K registration closes

9:15 AM - 5K/10K race begins

10 AM - Awards Ceremony

10:30 AM - streets open to the public

10:30 AM to 4 PM - sweatshirt and packet pick up at DNA, 24210 Lockport St.

POST RACE PARTY

Please join us after the race at Sovereign located in downtown Plainfield (24216 Lockport Street, Plainfield, IL 60544) for our post-race party. Participants will receive a free beverage and food item until supplies last. Come and celebrate your success with your family and friends.
