4k Run Trail

Saturday May 16, 2026 9:30 a.m. Mill Run Trail, Cambridge, ON

Run Pure + Simple is our no-bells series of races. These events offer great atmospheres with nothing extra, and are FREE to Run Waterloo members.

This race is a 2k out and back, and uses the entire flat unpaved section of the Mill Run Trail between Speedsville Road and Beaverdale Road, running under King's Highway 401. Parking is available at Riverside Park with a short walk; there is an at-grade crossing at Speedsville Road to get to the race start.

No swag, no food, no awards, just a certified and chiptimed 4k to get your spring into gear. Although, the race just might be 4.01k, so pace yourself accordingly for the extra .01k.

Who will take home the Rally Cup in 2026?

Get ready for an action-packed "Amazing Race" meets "Escape Room" experience in support of The Darling Home for Kids! Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 3rd, and gather your team for a thrilling challenge where strategy, navigation, and quick thinking are key.

🏆Will you take home the coveted Rally Cup?

The Rally is made up of three epic legs, each wrapping up at a mystery location. But don’t think it’s just a leisurely Sunday drive - your total time depends on your brainpower, teamwork, and ability to actually follow directions (looking at you, backseat navigators). Get lost? That’s more mileage - and more laughs - for your team. Chase down every clue? That’s dedication… but it might slow you down.

Each route has a “sweet spot” arrival time. Show up too early? Penalty. Too late? Yep, that’s points off too. This isn’t about speed - it’s about strategy, timing, and a little bit of luck.

    But wait - there's more!

Be on the lookout for oddball landmarks, clever signs, and bizarre natural sightings based on the clues in your instructions. Some might even get you out of the car (safely!) for a little road-trip scavenger hunting. Snap those photos and write down those answers - you’ll score points for every correct find. But be warned: dawdling can cost you. That’s where the friendly fire starts flying. Do you play it safe, or go all-in for glory?

This is where legends are made, friendships are tested (in a good way), and stories are born. So buckle up, keep your eyes peeled, and may the best team win… or at least have the most fun trying.

Don't miss your chance to bring home the Rally Cup while also raising important funds for The Darling Home for Kids!

    Your Registration Fee Includes:

    • Rally Kit – filled with snacks and tools to help you along your way

    • A Rally car decal - identify your involvement in the event (and see the other teams involved!)

    • Grab & Go Breakfast at the starting line

    • Lunch – set up at one of the checkpoints to refuel you along your journey

    • Finish Line Reception - You made it! Take your time to go through your Rally package before submitting it for scoring. Connect with other teams and share in the joy of the day.

In addition to the registration fee, teams are required to fundraise, with 100% of funds directed towards The Darling Home for Kids. Fundraising minimums by team are below:

    • $300 for a Team of 2

    • $450 for a Team of 4

    Starting Line:

We haven't quite pinpointed our starting location just yet! But stay tuned!

    Recreational and Competitive Divisions!

Unsure if you're ready to Rally with those that are 'hardcore'? Sign up for the recreational division and receive one (1) bonus "lifeline" (without penalties) as well as identifying markers along the route to make sure you're on the right track.

EXAMPLE: While on route, as you drive past a library, there will be a bonus 'clue' that reads: You bookworms have no time to stop at the Greensville Library! When you pass the Greensville Library, you will know you're on the right track.

    TIP:

If you're new to car rally events, we suggest registering as a Team of 4 in the Recreational Division, so you have more team members to help find the clues and navigate the route.

Note: If you are joining a team that has already registered, you will need the team code from the captain. The team code is case sensitive.

    PRIZES! PRIZES! PRIZES!

Prizes will be awarded for fundraising, divisional winners and the best dressed team. Check out photos of last year's teams HERE.

Refer a team to sign up for the Rally for DHK and earn 5 bonus ballots for fundraising draw prizes. When that team reaches the fundraising minimum, you'll earn an additional 5 ballots! Make sure whoever you refer mentions during registration that you referred them.

Interested in donating a prize? Please contact Kate Holmes (kholmes@darlinghomeforkids.ca).

Every day, The Darling Home for Kids is entrusted to care for the most medically complex children. Our highly specialized Residential, Respite, and Hospice Palliative Care Programs draw children and families from all over the province. More than 70,000 children in Ontario are classified as medically complex, and that number continues to rise, as does the demand for our services.

Proceeds from the Rally for DHK will help to support our core programs and services. With your help, we can provide each child with the best care possible.

*Registration fees are not eligible for a tax receipt.
