71st Westfield River Wildwater Races

One of the country's oldest whitewater canoe, kayak and SUP races are taking place on the Westfield River once again on Saturday, April 18th. Participants challenge spring whitewater rapids and portage their boats around two dams for a fun and exciting paddling race that is filled with lifelong memories. The race takes place on a river that was given a “Wild & Scenic” designation by an act of Congress 31 years ago. Join us and make your own racing history!

CLASSIC RACE: 8 mile race starting in the center of Huntington with a mix of flat water, class 2 rapids, one class 3 rapid and two portages. All ability levels welcome.

EXPERT RACE: 5 mile race starting at Knightville Dam with challenging conditions including a mix of exciting class 2 and class 3 rapids. Expert paddlers only!!!

MEISTER RACE: Expert Race competitors can choose to enter both events by registering in the Expert Race and then checking off the same class in the Classic Race. The two race times are combined to determine the 1st place finishers. Racers must use the same canoe, kayak or SUP, and the same partner if racing OC-2.

Our Half Marathon is still happening—just taking a quick jog to a new date.

New Race Day: Saturday, April 11

    (Originally March 28)

Boys & Girls Club of Greater Westfield Half Marathon/5K/10K/Kids Fun Run will start at 11:00 a.m. on April 11.

All runners will receive a unique medal and this year's half-marathon t-shirt!

Everyone will have access to the post-race party in our gym, where results will also be posted.

The Westfield Half started in 1994 when a group of runners from the Empire One Running Club approached the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Westfield with the idea of a half-marathon fundraiser. Since then, we have seen the Westfield Half grow from 142 runners to well over 600. In 2011, there were nearly 1,000 participants! We have also added a 10K, 5K run/walk, and a children’s race. Since that first race 30 years ago, this event has raised ~$300,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Westfield. Race maps and info are available on the Westfield Half website https://www.bgcwestfield.org/westfieldhalf

Run or Walk. Eat Pancakes. Feel Good.

The Syrup Stampede is an annual fundraiser and community celebration benefiting Empty Arms Bereavement Support. Join us for a professionally timed 5K run or a 2K fun run/walk—then stay for a joyful community gathering and a pancake breakfast to celebrate together. Participants are encouraged to create a fundraising page or team to raise awareness and support for Empty Arms’ work. Thanks to the generosity of individual donors, team fundraisers, and business sponsors, the Stampede raises nearly 50% of the annual budget needed to serve bereaved families across Massachusetts, all year long.

    About Empty Arms

By cultivating personal connections, building a compassionate community, and fostering professional collaborations, Empty Arms offers grieving parents meaningful resources and validation as they navigate the days, weeks, and lifetime without their baby.
