JACK'S STORY

The Smile Like Jack Memorial Fund was established in memory of Jack William O’Brien, a loving son and brother, caring friend, and hard working young man that touched the lives of many with his contagious smile. Jack tragically passed away in a snowmobile accident on March 3rd, 2022. In his 20 short years, he had accomplished many things and leaves behind a legacy that is in a caliber of its own. Jack lived life to the fullest. He was always working exceptionally hard to accomplish his set of goals while also living the outdoorsman lifestyle: fishing, hunting, and riding. Our goal is that the Smile Like Jack Memorial Fund will bring other individuals (with similar passions) the opportunity to live their legacy just as Jack would - working immensely hard in the trades and living life to the fullest in the great outdoors.

Our Half Marathon is still happening—just taking a quick jog to a new date.

New Race Day: Saturday, April 11

    (Originally March 28)

Boys & Girls Club of Greater Westfield Half Marathon/5K/10K/Kids Fun Run will start at 11:00 a.m. on April 11.

All runners will receive a unique medal and this year's half-marathon t-shirt!

Everyone will have access to the post-race party in our gym, where results will also be posted.

The Westfield Half started in 1994 when a group of runners from the Empire One Running Club approached the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Westfield with the idea of a half-marathon fundraiser. Since then, we have seen the Westfield Half grow from 142 runners to well over 600. In 2011, there were nearly 1,000 participants! We have also added a 10K, 5K run/walk, and a children’s race. Since that first race 30 years ago, this event has raised ~$300,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Westfield. Race maps and info are available on the Westfield Half website https://www.bgcwestfield.org/westfieldhalf

In the fall of 2022 Mary was eagerly anticipating the birth of her first child. Her daughter was born in late October but tragically Mary suffered a fatal stroke days later.

This scholarship is a way for family and friends of Mary to find purpose and meaning in this horrible tragedy. She would be proud to know that efforts are being made in her name to support parents attempting to improve life for their children.

Get Off the Couch Adventure Day

June 7, 2026 | Norbrook Farm Brewery | Colebrook, CT

Join us for the Get Off the Couch Foundation’s Annual Adventure Day at Norbrook Farm Brewery — a day of outdoor activity, community, and impact.

Inspired by the adventurous spirit of Chris Del Sole, the Get Off the Couch Foundation helps children experience the confidence, joy, and lifelong benefits that come from getting outside and getting active.

Participants can choose their own adventure before gathering for a relaxed afternoon celebration at the brewery.

    Activities may include*:

    • Mountain biking

    • Trail running

    • Hiking or walking

    • Kids outdoor activities

Afterward, everyone comes together for great food, drinks, music, and community while celebrating the difference we’re making together.

Funds raised support programs that help children access outdoor opportunities such as mountain bike camps, learn-to-ride programs, learn-to-ski and snowboard packages, and adaptive outdoor experiences.

Come ride, hike, run, walk — or simply join us to support the mission.

Let’s get off the couch and make a difference.
