The Independence Rhode Race will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026. In partnership with the Bristol Fourth of July Committee, the half marathon will follow the beautiful downtown streets of America’s quintessential community when it is decked out in its finest - during the Oldest 4th of July Celebration in America. The course includes incredible historic homes, a town common and the America’s Cup Museum before heading out along the scenic coastline, through Roger Williams University, following the parade route, and finishing along the water at Independence Park.

The Official Post Race Party will be Pivotal Brewing, 500 Wood St, Bristol (Mile 3 of the course). Join us after the race, and show your bib for one free beer on race day only.

Please Note: The Independence Rhode Race will be happening rain or shine. Because of the logistics of planning for a race of this size, we cannot offer refunds for any reason. In the event that the weather is severe enough to create an unsafe environment for participants, organizers will cancel the event with no refunds issued.

Thank you for your interest in the 9th Annual Courtney Roderick Run for Recovery! If you're not able to attend in person, you're welcome to run or walk it virtually.

Check in will open at 6:30 AM on the day of the race, with participants receiving a race t-shirt and bib! Only participants who signed up by July 1st will be guaranteed a T-shirt. We will have timing services provided by RaceWire.

Handmade trophies will be given to the top finishers! *Only in person runners will be eligible for these trophies.

Each year, the Newport County YMCA hosts the annual Pie Run on Thanksgiving Day. This USATF sanctioned race, originally founded in 1985 by the Newport Running Club, collects food donations for the MLK Community Center as well as raises necessary funds for the Y's Community Support Campaign. Typically, this beloved annual event draws over 2,000 walkers and runners who gather at the Newport County YMCA parking lot. This year, the Y is again offering a LIVE/IN-PERSON or VIRTUAL option, opening the event so that ALL members of our Y community can participate in a way that works for them!

Pie Run Details:

• No on site registration on day of race- REGISTER ONLINE or ON YOUR DEVICE up to 7:45am on 11/26/26

• 5 Mile race is chip timed

• 3 Mile race is NOT timed

• Race begins @ 8:30am

• Arrive for race by 7:15am if you have NOT already picked up your bib

• Arrive for race by 7:45am if you have ALREADY picked up your bib during one of the times below

• Course is dog & stroller friendly

• Parking and restrooms will be available

Donation Details:

Donations will be collected at Bib Pickup for non-perishable food donations for the MLK Center as well as coat donations for area organizations in need. The Coat Drive is presented and run by the Island Interact Leadership Club sponsored by the local Rotary Club and NCYMCA.
