Who We Are: Healthy Kids Running Series is a five (5) week running program in the spring and fall for kids Pre-K through 8th grade. Each HKRS Series takes place once a week and offers age-appropriate running events including the 50 & 75 yard dashes, the 1/4 mile, the 1/2 mile and the 1 mile run. Kids will earn points for each race they complete based on their finish.

Pricing: The registration fee covers the entire five (5) weeks of the Series which includes race bibs for each week, a runner shirt, a finisher medal and any sponsor giveaways. Registration is non-refundable and non-transferable. Online Early Bird registration increases three weeks prior to the first race event.

Challenger: This Series offers a Challenger Division which is an adaptive 75 yard race for children with disabilities and/or special needs. This allows for parents, siblings, and friends to be on the course with runners to provide support as well as bringing their own supportive devices such as crutches, braces, wheelchairs, etc. to be used by runners.

Single Day Racing: Single day race registration opens one hour prior to the start of each race. The registration fee covers one single race to be run on the day of registration. ALL single day registrations should be completed onsite at the race location. Single day racers will have the option to upgrade to the full series (see tab on the left side of the page for instructions). There is a strict no-refund and no-transfer policy.

Awards: All participants receive a medal on Week 5! Trophies will be awarded to the overall top finishers in each of the divisions listed below (broken out by boys and girls respectively):

Join us for our annual 5K Walk-A-Thon in support of adolescent physical and mental wellness. This event helps raise funds for our 4-week summer camp serving students in 3rd through 8th grade. More than a summer program, this camp is designed to be a safe, active, and encouraging space for youth during the summer months.

Led by a longtime Maywood District 89 educator with more than 30 years of service, this initiative is rooted in the belief that adolescents need safe spaces, positive structure, and opportunities to stay active for their overall health and well-being.

Get ready to lace up your sneakers and make a difference at the Oak Brook Park District Annual Pink 5K Run/Walk! It's not just a race—it's a chance to join the fight against breast cancer and show your support. Plus, 100% of the net profits from registration will go directly to the Hinsdale Hospital Foundation Open Arms Breast Cancer Outreach Fund, helping provide mammograms for women in need.

This event is perfect for everyone, whether you're a seasoned runner or a first-time walker. The course takes you on a scenic, chip-timed adventure through Central Park at the Oak Brook Park District—making it a fun, family-friendly day filled with purpose and passion. Join us at Madison Elementary on May 9th for our 9th annual Stars & Spikes 5k event! This year we are time traveling back to the 1980's for our race theme with our race apparel centering around the neon colors of the decade. Feel free to join in on the fun by busting out your headbands, track suits, leg warmers and all things 1980!

This race is hosted by Madison and Hammerschmidt Elementaries in Lombard, IL. Both a 5k race and 1 mile fun run are offered.

Registration Fees

• 5k: $30-19+ $10-18 and under

• 1 Mile: $15-19+ $10-18 and under

• 7:30 Pre-Race Registration

• 9:00 5k Start Time

• 10:00 1 Mile Start Time

• 10:30 Post-Race Party

5k and 1 Mile participants will receive a race shirt with their registration. You must be registered by April 19th by 11:59 PM to guarantee a race shirt.

Race Swag will be sent home with the student name indicated during registration. Not Affiliated Registrations packets will be available on race day beginning at 7:30 AM.
