    Set in Chicago's Midway area, La Carrera de las Madres 5K brings runners and walkers together to celebrate mothers, abuelitas, caregivers, and the women who shape our communities! This inaugural race honoring strength, love and resilience across generations brings together entire families for a special community celebration.

    Join us for our first annual La Carrera de las Madres 5K on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Archer Park, as we run to uplift families and empower future leaders (location subject to change)*

    EL BARRIO / The Neighborhood

    Archer Heights, located on Chicago’s Southwest Side, is a proud, family-centered community rooted in culture, tradition, and resilience. Known for its strong neighborhood ties and vibrant local businesses, Archer Heights reflects the heart of working families in Chicago.

    As you run through the area surrounding Archer Park, you’ll experience the warmth of a community that celebrates together—where panaderías, taquerías, small shops, and murals tell the stories of generations. Archer Heights is the perfect place to honor mothers and the power of community.

    LA ENTREGA DE PAQUETE / The Packet Pick-up

    Once registered, you will receive packet pick-up locations and times in late April.

    All participants must pick up their packets before race day. There will be NO race day packet pick-up.

    We encourage the use of public transportation or carpooling. Archer Park is accessible by CTA bus routes including the #62 Archer and #53 Pulaski buses. Limited street parking is available in surrounding areas.

    Top overall runners and age-division winners will receive special awards.

    Along the course and at the finish line, participants will enjoy:

    Founded in 1984, UNO began as a citywide movement advocating for Latiné communities through civic engagement, leadership, and opportunity.

    In 2018, UNO renewed its focus to empower young girls through holistic well-being, mentorship, and education. Events like La Carrera de las Madres support this mission—honoring the women who raise strong families and future leaders.

    The Little Village Rotary Club presents the 6th Annual Carrera por paz, or Race for Peace, a community 5K Run/Walk Event. This event's objective is to promote anti-violence by supporting youth programs in Chicago’s Little Village and surrounding communities. Proceeds of this race will be invested into the community in the form of renewable grants, youth development, and job training.

    Race for Peace will have both competitive and non-competitive 5K in-person events. Only the competitive 5K in-person event will qualify runners for the cash prizes. All of the 5K in-person events will qualify runners for the age group and gender awards.

    • All registered runners will receive a finisher medallion and Race Day event t-shirt.

    • Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three runners, both men and women categories.

    • The race is chip-timed on a certified 5K course (IL21011NM).

    For more than four decades, runners of all levels and abilities have been raising money to support Lincoln Park Zoo with Run for the Zoo, now in its 48th year! The race route is suitable for all experience levels and features a flat, scenic route that winds in and around the zoo, allowing for beautiful views of Chicago’s skyline, Lake Michigan, protected natural areas, and zoo habitats.
