Fit & Able is proud to introduce the Sizzling Soles Half-marathon at Mills School Park! If you're looking for a low-key race to keep you active over the summer, give you a goal to train for, and get you ready for the fall race season this is the race for you!

Every runner chases the dream of running a marathon. The marathon presents a challenge that requires hard work, determination, and focus; and when achieved, it provides great satisfaction and joy.

BUT have you ever wanted to run a marathon without having to actually run a marathon? With the Summer Series 26.2 you can do just that when you sign up for both 13.1 races at the Sizzling Soles Half-marathon and Summers Done 13.1. Complete both races and we will combine your finish times to give you a 26.2 finish time with a extra set of awards!

PLUS you can save 10% on each race when you sign up for both together using the Summer Series 26.2 Bundle! * You can find the bundle under the main event cards above (click View All Events).

OR, how about an ultra-marathon? Complete all five Fit & Able 13.1 races - a combined total of 65.5 miles! - and again we will combine your finish times for yet another extra set of awards!

All races will have a staggered start beginning at 7:00 AM (in order of distance) and the course closes for all races at 10:00 AM (In-person Race Day Schedule). Please consider your race pace when deciding which event to run. * For any participants who feel they may need some extra time, please contact us at [email protected].

    Our 2026 Youth Run Form Clinic is brought to you by Triangle Run Smart Training, presented by Pace Yourself Run Company and The Running PTs.

    Come join us for our Youth Run Form Clinic on Friday, June 5, 2026 from 6:30-7:30pm at the Mills Park Middle School track & field in Cary!

    This 1-hour clinic is focused on teaching young runners ages 9–13 how to improve their running form, which is key to running efficiently and preventing injury. Along with run form, participants will learn essential dynamic warm-up drills and cool-down stretches to support safe and effective training—whether they’re just starting out or already logging miles.

    Led by a positive, experienced coach (RRCA and USATF certified), the clinic combines fun technique work and drills designed to help runners move with confidence and efficiency.

    Open to ages 9-13. Participants should be able to comfortably run for at least 15 minutes without stopping, (any pace).

    This clinic is a great opportunity for young runners to build strong running habits, boost performance, and reduce injury.

    Cost of the clinic is $25. No refund and no credit if you drop from the race after registering.

    Cost includes: participation in the 1-hour run form clinic

    Clinic is capped at 20 participants.

    Coach Holly Kane will coach this event.

    Play It Forward: We will be accepting donations to support the Town of Cary Parks & Recreation Scholarship Program for Youth Sports and 100% of the Kids Dash fee will go to support this program too. It is in keeping with the Town of Cary’s philosophy to ensure that all citizens receive equal opportunity to participate in recreation. The Town provides the opportunity for Cary residents to apply for scholarships and/or reduction of fees for Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources’ programs.     Support Special Olympics North Carolina today and give the power of sport to an athlete.

    Eunice Kennedy Shriver founded Special Olympics with a vision that individuals with intellectual disabilities were far more capable in sports and physical activity than many experts believed possible. Athletes in North Carolina are never charged to participate due to the generous support from individuals, businesses, foundations, and civic groups helps fund the training facilities, equipment, transportation, and coaches key to every athlete’s experiences.

    Their Mission: To provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

    All races will have a mass start at 9:00 AM for the Fun Mile and 9:15 for the 3 Mile / 5 Mile and the course closes for all races at 10:45 AM (In-person Race Day Schedule).
