14 Miles 7 Miles Duathlon Gravel Run Trail

Run-Bike-Run

The Du the Dirt Duathlon is an off-road run, bike, run event to help break the monotony of winter training and introduce you to the joys of doing it in the dirt. This fun event is beginner friendly and open to the whole family ages 8-80 (and beyond if you're up for it). All trails are fairly groomed, with no crazy elevation or obstacles to navigate. You are welcome to ride any trial-ready bike you want, but we suggest a mountain bike or gravel bike with at least 1.75" (40mm) wide tires to have the most fun. Serious climbing gears will not be needed, but you'll want to ride something that can handle dirt and gravel. Event distances are intended to be doable for beginners, but still fun for the record setters. We offer a full distance event for individuals and relay teams, and a new half-distance mini sprint duathlon for the total beginners. We'll have the usual chip timing to keep score, but we want everyone to have a good time and give it their all. Winners will be awarded for overall and

age group champs. We want this event to help show you how much fun off-road events can be, while helping to test your early season fitness. If you're a trail runner with a bike, you should try your hand at multisport competition. If you're a cyclist looking for a new challenge, break out the running shoes and try your hand at a Duathlon. If you don't want to do both sports, grab a friend, think of an awesome relay team name and join the fun as a Du the Dirt Duo. There's room for everyone at this event. This event is definitely beginner friendly. Closed toed shoes are required on the run and a helmet must be worn for the bike segment.

Full Race Format: Run 2 Miles - Bike 10 Miles - Run 2 Miles

Mini Sprint Duathlon Race Format: Run 1 Mile - Bike 5 Miles - Run 1 Mile

This Mini Sprint Duathlon is a shorter race that is intended to be a true appetizer for those just starting their multisport journey. Mini Sprint Du participants can experience the fun with half the distance. If you're a beginner, casual athlete or your winter training just hasn't gone to plan, try this shorter event that features a single lap of the same great trails. If you don't want to do both sports, grab a friend, think of an awesome relay team name and join the fun as a Mini Sprint Du the Dirt Duo.

Individual Mini Sprint Entry: $55 early entry for individuals by gender; Awards for top Male & top Female in each category by age group (8-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+)

🐍🍺 Welcome to the Annual Cottonmouth Beerlay! 🍺🐍

Run fast. Drink hard. Don’t get bit.

What do you get when you combine trail running, random beers, and your most competitive (and possibly least coordinated) friends? The Cottonmouth Beerlay, baby! This wild race at the beautiful Lakewood Nature Preserve is back for another year of glorious chaos, beer-fueled miles, and unforgettable memories.

You can run it solo if you're a one-person party machine, or grab a few beer-loving buddies and tackle it as a relay team of 2–4. Either way, you're in for 8 miles of pure, ridiculous fun.

Are you fast enough to outrun the Cottonmouth? Or will the beer bite first?

    🐾 How It Works:

Each lap is a 2-mile trail loop through the preserve. You’ll do it 4 times total.

Before every lap, runners must consume a randomly-selected beer from the BYOB community pool

Solo runners do it all themselves. Relay teams tag in one runner per lap.

🍻 21+ only for the drinking portion, of course. Minors and Sober folks may run with non-alcoholic alternatives but must be carbonated.

🧊 BYOB Russian Roulette (a Cottonmouth Classic)

Each runner brings 4 beers (5%+ ABV), which are tossed into our giant iced community kitty pool.

When it's your turn to run, a volunteer will hand you a mystery brew, already cracked and poured.

You drink it, you run it. Deal with the consequences.

No swapping. No peeking. No mercy.

Non Alcoholic Drinks are of course permitted. We love sobriety but we just haven't practiced it yet! 😂

    🏆 Post-Race Beer Olympics

The party definitely doesn’t stop at the finish line.

Once everyone’s stumbled their final lap, we crank up the music, toss some pizza your way, and break out the Beer Olympics yard games:

    🍻 Beer Pong

    🪢 Tug of War

    🔫 Dodgeball

    🌽 Cornhole

    🏌️‍♂️ Hillbilly Golf

    🔄 Spike Ball
