The Friends of McCormick's Creek are pleased to host their 20th annual 5K road race on Saturday, April 18th. This is a Mag 7 Series Race. It's a fast course with rolling hills in McCormick's Creek State Park. Proceeds will be used to develop and support projects and events that help preserve, restore, manage, and interpret the natural and cultural heritage and recreational opportunities of McCormick’s Creek State Park. Packet pick-up is 7:00am-8:15am at the Nature Center on race day. The race starts promptly at 8:30am. Refreshments and an awards ceremony follow the race.

Prizes are given to top male and female 5K overall runners and walkers. Awards granted to top 2 age group winners in 5K Run and first age group winners in 5K Walk. Those registering before April 3, 2026, can receive a race shirt. Shirts are available while supplies last after April 2nd. Race-day registration (cash or check only) will be $30 beginning at 7:00am at the Nature Center on April 18, 2026.

Post-race Pancakes and Sausage Breakfast available for $5. Please purchase by 4/15/2026 so we know how much to buy!

Severe Weather Policy: When thunder is heard or lightning is seen, race start will be delayed for 20 minutes. Subsequent thunder or lightning after the beginning of the initial 20-minute count will reset the clock for another 20-minute count. Race can be postponed a maximum of 75 minutes at which point it will be canceled. No refunds for weather cancelations.

    April 11th, 2026 is the date for the 20th running of the Greene & Schultz Hoosier Half Marathon, 5K and 10k. Ivy Tech and the Monroe County Parks and Rec will continue to be the home of the 2026 course. We are very thankful for our partnership with Ivy Tech, Cook Medical, Simtra, the Monroe County YMCA and the Monroe County Parks & Rec to bring you this challenging course that highlights these businesses and the newly created Karst Park greenway that spans all the way to Ellettsville. The 5K will run around Cook Medical and up to the NW YMCA before turning around and returning to Ivy Tech. The 10k option continues past the YMCA and down onto the Karst park greenway before reversing course and returning to Ivy Tech. The Half Marathon option continues on from there to span all of the new section of the Karst Park greenway and takes you all the way to Ellettsville before reversing course. After initial feedback on the 2023 course, we want to again caption the saying that this is the

    TOUGHEST RUN YOU'LL EVER LOVE!!

    In 2024 we reduced our prices in spite of all of the increases in cost with inflation. It helped to boost our attendance and hopefully increased some positive word of mouth as well. We are keeping those reduced prices in place for 2026. We're happy to pass along that this course is easier to secure, safer and more cost effective.     Come out for a morning of fun and games! MCCSC will host a 1 mile and 5k run for students and their families on Saturday, April 25th at Grandview Elementary. This race serves as a culminating event for our elementary running clubs, and an opportunity for families to come together for an active event. This event will be FREE to all participants (students, parents/guardians, family members, etc.). While there is no registration fee, we do ask families to consider donating. All profits will be put towards the Mental Health Support Endowment through the Monroe County Community Schools Foundation.

    Wear your school colors to show your school pride! Medals will be given to youth participants. Snacks and kids activities to follow the races!

    Volunteers are also needed to help run this event! You can view a list of the volunteer tasks and sign up for them under the MORE menu tab (which will bring up a VOLUNTEER option) on this website!

    The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Indiana University Bloomington is proud to sponsor the 3rd Kimberly Geeslin Memorial 5K Run/Walk in memory of our friend, mentor, educator, and colleague. We hope you can join us!

    This year, the race is being run in support of Monroe County Habitat for Humanity Women+ Build! Kim was an ardent supporter of and annual builder at Women+ Build. All proceeds from this run will go directly to Women+ Build in Kim's honor.

    Race Day info

    The race will take place at Switchyard Park, with check-in at the picnic shelter next to the playground.

    Race Day registration and check-in will start at 8:00am. Please arrive early to ensure an on-time start at 9:00am. Walk-ups welcome.

    We will run rain or shine but will cancel for thunderstorms or other hazardous weather.

    Strollers are welcome as are dogs on 6 foot (or less) leash.

    We will need volunteers for various tasks on race day. Some volunteer tasks will require during-race commitment; others will occur pre- or post-race and still allow race participation.     The third annual Tristan Calvin 5k scholarship run will be on the Owen Valley xc course in memory of his many activities with the school. Tristan, as a Senior at Owen Valley had his life cut short during a traffic accident on July 20th, 2023. Tristan never met a stranger and was giving to a fault. His parents are starting this scholarship in his name to keep that giving spirit alive. Please consider a donation in his name and bringing your family and friends out to walk or run with us in his memory.

    Registration will open at 6:45am with the race starting at 8:00am.

    Awards will be awarded to the top running and walking individuals as well as runner age group winners.
