Known as the “gem of the San Juans”, this horseshoe-shaped island offers a perfect blend of arts and culture, pristine lakes, and endless outdoor possibilities. The majority of the island’s 57 square miles are rural and hilly, which makes it a pleasure for drivers and a challenge for cyclists and trailer runners. The curving roads wind through forests, past artists’ studios, fields with old apple barns, and the occasional turn-of-the-century prune-drying barn.
